Editorial Reviews

""On one level, the story is simple fun, as are the illustrations, but scratch it just a little and it has much to say about the universality of greed and how wealth finds meaning when it is put to use for the common good.""- Kirkus Reviews on Nick and the Nasty Knight
(Kirkus Reviews)

""Krause's pacing is brisk and her tone sure."" Publishers Weekly on Ute Krause's last book with NorthSouth, Oscar and the Very Hungry Dragon

Book Description

Everyone’s afraid of the Nasty Knight. Everyone? Not quite! Nick has had enough of slaving away for the rich knight and one day he runs away. But what bad luck! Deep in the woods, he is captured by a gang of thieves! And they are naturally delighted with their catch. After all, there’s only one thing that robbers prefer to little boys—and that’s gold. Luckily, Nick knows just where the Nasty Knight keeps his treasure.

When Nick was taken captive by Nestor the nasty knight, and overrun by work, he dreamed of finding freedom and a quieter life. Climbing a rope to cross the castle moat, five robbers capture Nick on the other side. Telling the robbers of the Nestor's treasures, Nick inspires them to steal the loot. However, when the robbers are caught by Sir Nestor and his knights, Nick slips away, leaving the rest to turn to crocodiles.
