Product Description

This Chromel-C nickel chromium resistance wire is suitable for heater wire and hot wire cutting use. It is nominally composed of 60 percent nickel, 16 percent chromium, and 24 percent iron and meets ASTM B267 standards for resistance wire. The wire has a maximum operating temperature of 1010 degrees C (1850 degrees F), is corrosion resistant, and resists oxidation at high temperatures. This resistance wire is suitable for use in heater wire applications such as toasters and cutting wire applications such as foam rubber cutters.

Electrical wire carries an electric current or grounds an electrical device. The amount of current a wire can carry is proportional to its size (gauge), and the wire is generally sheathed with coatings and coverings to insulate and protect it from moisture, chemicals, heat, and abrasion. Copper is the primary material for electrical wire, but alloys are sometimes used to increase its strength or its resistance to chemicals and the environment. Wire can be composed of a single strand or of many smaller strands, depending on its use, and is typically annealed to improve its ductility. Electrical wire is commonly used in industrial, electronic, and automotive applications.

I have used a few different brands of Nickel Chromium (Nichrome) wire and this is the best quality wire I have seen. It is easy to work with and it works perfectly.

My only complaint is that the wire is shrink wrapped so excessively that unless I get real lucky I spend several minutes getting it all removed.

I would definitely purchase this product any time I need more.

Bought it for a homebuilt hot-wire foam cutter. Made a little platform and stretched the wire vertically. I thought it would burn out pretty quickly, but the little piece that I put there a while ago is still working and is showing no signs of breakage. Granted, I don't heat it up until it glows, but it gets hot enough to cut foam (albeit slowly) if connected to a battery charger over about 2' length. Shorter = hotter.

Used it for my remote fireworks ignition and it worked great. It's a little hard to cut with wire cutters but nail clippers had no problem. I wrapped the wire around the fuse a few times and connected each end with alligator clips that were connected to my 12 volt battery and switches.

Used this with a .25" brass rod I got on amazon as well, to complete a homemade foam cutter. Works great. Cuts foam like a champ. Breaks when I put too much current through it, so I just cut off another 12" chunk from the 300+ feet and move on.

Recommendation: It's good to go

Quality good, consistency too. Length seems to be about what it claims. Worked good for intended purpose. Not much else to say.

This product is everything it was promoted to be. The picture shows 28 AWG, you do get, the 40 AWG, 0.0048 gauge wire though. I do understand getting a picture of 0048 AWG spool looks solid. Bottom-line, I love this wire; it is thinner then my hair, and a lot of it....
