It may occur in sensitized individuals following contact with nickel-containing items such as jewelry, zippers, buttons, and other objects; by nickel leaching from implants and prostheses; and following occupational exposures. Nickel and the Skin gives an extensive, updated review of new aspects, as well as previously discussed topics, covering material progress in the field of nickel hypersensitivity.
