Catchy and Positive Pop Songs...Mostly,
By Dwight Blubaugh "MichiBlue" (The only Eaton Rapids on Earth, MI, USA) - See all my reviews (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Nickelodeon Kids Choice 2 (Audio CD)
For the first reviewer, the oft-repeated s**t word (38x by my count on a lyrics website) in "Hollaback Girl" is edited out on this CD, and, in my opinion, is a MUCH better song without it - not sure why Ms. Stefani thinks it enhances her song to put it in - maybe she likes her songs to be full of s**t.
For the second reviewer, I can say that, as a teacher, it is the job / duty of adults to try to protect kids from harmful things. I see way too many messed up kids in my job, and behind every messed up kid is an adult (or more) not doing his / her job. At least give the lady some credit for attempting to protect the next generation, even if you think she's narrow-minded or overstepping her boundaries - these days, not enough adults will go out of their way for kids who aren't their own. It's a lot better than the entertainment industry that purposely exploits the next generation for a profit and continually pushes the boundaries of decency until our society is quickly imploding from moral decay - nothing is sacred anymore. My best-functioning and highest achieving students are almost invariably those whose parents (among doing other things) shield them the most from the entertainment industry (esp. the seedier aspects), and it's no coincidence. By definition, entertainment for kids SHOULD be more innocent. Getting off the soapbox and back to this CD, most of the songs strike me as pretty innocent, fun, catchy pop. At a quick listen, the songs by Ciara, Weezer, and Ferdinand (one word edited) may be exceptions in the "innocence" department, but the lyrics of many of the songs are quite positive and intelligent. For many years I thought maybe we were seeing the end of tuneful and decent pop radio songs that people could listen to with their kids, but this CD shows that there's still hope.

[...] NO!! we dont! so shut up, i happen to think this is a good album. i like the fact that nickelodean lets kids choose music they actually like, tho i hate the song holloback girl (not cuz of tyhe swaring, its just a gay song.) so i recommend it for your kids since this is the stuff they WANT TO LISTEN TO!!(oh, and also, to u people that say us kids shouldnt be having girlfriends and boyfrends, shut up, we just get older quicker than u idiots, so leave us alone and go live in your perfect little world!!) so, anyway, i think i proved my point, so i better not hear you people talking this s*it anymore. this is a good album, so get it for your kids if they ask for it, dont worry, they havent put a rap song on it yet, even tough your kids most likely listen to rap all the time up in their rooms anyways. ooooo i know, all you adults wanna kill me now, well too bad!! deal with it, you think i care!!
