Although we are a little past childbearing years, grown-up children from our and friends' families are having babies of their own. What can we give them that is beautiful, worthwhile, AND distinctive? Carol Friedman's latest additions to her "Nicky the Jazz Cat" collection are absolutely perfect gifts for a spectrum of occasions - showers, birthdays, holidays, or "just because." Created as a prequel to the award-winning "Nicky the Jazz Cat" originals, "Nicky's Jazz Lullabies" and the introductory counting book "Baby Cat Nicky 123" are just as charmingly and thoughtfully conceived for very young children. Three preschool teacher friends have raved about the suitability and creativity of these new items. The colors and graphic design, the perky appeal of the kitten, and the clever use of simple rhymed wording in "Baby Cat Nicky 123" promise repeat readings. The tender, gentle nature of the musical selections rendered by distinguished jazz artists on "Nicky's Jazz Lullabies" assures that wee listeners' dreams will indeed be sweet. Carol Friedman deserves a place in the pantheon of contemporary children's literary VIPs for sharing memories of a beloved pet as well as honoring jazz artists who have contributed so generously to America's unique musical genre.

I keep this in the car and we often listen to it on the way home from day-care in the evening -- it's very soothing, great winding-down music, but still fun and something you can sing to. I love it, and find myself listening to it even when I'm kid-free. Someone to Watch Over Me is incredible, and who would have ever thought that Mickey Mouse Club march could be a lullaby? It works. Lots of kids' music is barely tolerable to me. This is not merely tolerable, I actually really enjoy it. Love the Nicky's Jazz 4 kids cd, too.

This CD was the best thing that ever happened to our bedtime routine. Ever since our daughter was born, we've had the pleasure of listening to these beautiful songs almost every night and we never get tired of them. Our daughter, now two and a half, continues to request "Piggy" over and over again, and thanks to Nicky, she already appreciates the magic of jazz.

We also love Nicky's Jazz for Kids. Hearing her sing Kee-Mo Ky-Mo is a refreshing change from Old McDonald!

My son is now just over two years old. And we have played this about 6 out of 7 nights a week since he was born. We never get sick of it. It's so relaxing, and enjoyable for Mom and Dad as well.

This is a truly wonderful CD! It definitely does lives up to its title. It has worked fantastic and a relaxing way to ease the little girl that I care for into her naps for many months now. She is a music lover, but had trouble napping. When she hears Nat King Cole and Judy Garland's voice she automatically starts getting drowsy. This CD really lulls her to sleep without much effort. The songs are all great and easy to hum or sing along to as well. I knew this CD was going to be a hit when I previewed the songs here on Amazon's website and my husband nodding off to sleep while listening to them too. I have recommended it to all of the parents that I know!

I play this CD before my toddler's nap. The sweet jazz melodies mellows him out and it puts him to sleep instantly! I actually fall asleep myself! It's a great CD to wind down to.

My family loves this CD. We have had it for about a year and listen to it every night, sometimes for multiple play-throughs, and if our little one wakes, at multiple times. We also use it at nap time on the weekends. We have yet to get sick of it. It is soothing without being cloying, interesting, and singable if you wish.

This is a good CD with some classics that are nice to listen to. Not the best lullaby CD that we listen to, but it's not bad. Susie Tallman has a lullaby CD that my daughter likes better, but this is still worth buying for some variety and exposure to jazz.

I never write these reviews. I just had to let everyone know how much I love this CD. I look forward to putting the baby to bed every night so that we can listen to it. I just wish it were longer and had more songs.
