This review is from: Nico: Recipes and Recollections from One Our Most Brilliant and Controversial Chefs (Paperback)
Nico Ladenis has written that rare book by a Master Chef, one that is supremely entertaining, informative about his life, while giving the reader dozens of recipies which a modestly proficient amateur can reproduce. The food photography is some of the best ever to illustrate a cookery book. Nico goes one step further and that is to provide a significant section on sweets which he has perfected himself and which you won't be able to buy in any but the best international patisseries/pastry shops. His descriptions of his early life in Kenya are haunting and when combined with the seemingly endless hurdles he and his devoted wife had to face to establish himself as the supreme chef in the UK from the early eighties gives an insight into what makes this complicated man tick. "Mzuri Sana", as they would say in Nairobi and Nakuru, Nico, and thank you for sharing your craft, artistry and life with us.

Only the best is good enough,

This review is from: Nico: Recipes and Recollections from One Our Most Brilliant and Controversial Chefs (Paperback)
I am a keen reader of recipes and this book has tastiest and most impressive dishes I have ever managed to make. Oohh, the sauces, the sausage, the vegetables, the fish, the meat, the cakes, the petit four! The only things you need are patience and spending of a little more money than you may be used to, but the reward is the highest praise from your dinner guests.
