Through trial an error, I've found the Nicorette gum to work the best for me out the three nicotine replacement products (patch, gum, lozenges). When I'm about to explode in a nervous rage from nicotine withdrawal, I just pop a piece of gum in my mouth and it works surpisingly well at smoothing those rough, hateful edges. Although the directions advise against it, I chew as much gum as I need, because sometimes one piece is not enough when the urges get too tough. For example the other day someone cut me off in my car, and strange demonic thoughts began coursing through my head. I put three pieces in my mouth and blew big bubbles and that helped pull me back to this side of sanity. Recently I decided to try the nicotine lozenges, because the one drawback of the gum is that my jaw starts to hurt after all the maniacal, savage-like chewing. However, I found the lozenges to be absolutely intolerable. They taste like chalk, and not even good colorful chalk that little kids play with. Bad chalk. They are completely useless and I would recommend anyone to not WASTE their money on those if you've never tried them. The unfortunate part is, nicotine seems to absorb faster with the lozenges than with the gum, but at least the gum, especially the orange flavor, tastes fine. Also, I've found Nicorette brand to be the best. I've tried a cheaper off-brand and the quality of the gum was inferior, not standing a chance against the onslaught of my teeth. My one big complaint is that Nicorette is criminally expensive, but still cheaper than a pack-a-day cigarette habit, in more ways than one.
