5.0 out of 5 stars It took a miracle but "Niecy" is finally available in the US!!!!, March 3, 2010
This review is from: Niecy (Audio CD)
Dear Reader, I kid you not, I got a litle teary-eyed when I saw that this album was finally being released domestically and remastered on CD. I paid a small fortune for the Japanese Import years ago without giving the price a second thought as this is (IMO)Deniece Williams' most fully realized work to date. There is not one bad track on this CD and believe me, there's something for everyone here. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the "Niecy" Lp, it contains the #1 R&B/top 10 pop cover smash "Its Gonna Take A Miracle" as well as the classics "Waiting", "How Does It Feel?" and the heart-wrenching "A Part of Love". The sound quality of the remastered CD is crisp and clear. Don't think twice, ORDER THIS CD NOW!!!!!

I had the misfortune of being a teenager during the "dark ages of Black music" of the 1980s when synthesizer banging high tech drek, jerry curled junk, and computerized crap junktified the airwaves. During that putrid era, Deniece Williams was a welcome breath of fresh air that served as a musical oasis in a barren climate with her angelic tunes.

This album was a fine example of this. "Waiting on the Hotline" is one of the great underrated tunes of all time. The piano intro leads lovingly into Miss Williams' sweet and sassy vocals as her multioctave pipes pound plentifully (I've often wondered why rappers never sampled this catchy beat). "How Does It Feel" is a really sweet tune to a catchy pseudo-reggae beat and the part where she shouts "grab your self-control" sends me into sheer bliss. "I'm Still Waiting" is also rather mellow and relaxing after a hard day.

Sadly, because she happened to come out during a time of such otherwise rotten "music," she did not get the recognition she deserved and a lot of her lovely songs were unheard outside of Black American radio stations and dancehalls in Merrie Olde England. Rectify this situation, rediscover Niecy, and buy this CD!

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Deniece Williams' Album. It's a must have for Soul music collectors. I wish to have a CD, December 5, 2007
This review is from: Niecy (Vinyl)
I first heard it in 1982. A low profile album with the best soul sound. it would be a viable project to the relavant companies to make this album to a CD. It's a must have album.

I have never heard this cd before until I played the snippets on yesterday. They were saying it was released on cd for the U.S. Baby let me tell you I could not get my credit card out of my wallet fast enough...lol. Um love it especially the track "A Part Of Love". You know a few years back I saw Ms. Williams on a reality date show. Amazing how such a lovely flower could be alone. Love you niecy...goodluck!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally released on CD in the USA!, March 21, 2010
This review is from: Niecy (Audio CD)
I have had this on CD for many years now from Japan, but this Reel Music release just blows that one away! Of course, this album is a classic -- and while it is short, there is not one single minute wasted during its' 33 minute playing time. Reel Music should be applauded for the TLC they have given to this release (and really every one of their releases): the sound quality is excellent, the booklet has intelligent and lengthy liner notes including new interviews with Niecy and Thom Bell, and the lyrics are included, as they were in the original LP. I can't recommend this or any of the other Reel Music releases enough! Be sure to check out the others by Esther Phillips, Cheryl Lynn, Phyllis Hyman, Gloria Jones, Yvonne Fair, and Chris Clark.
