Along the way, Nigel shares tips and advice on fashion, style, hair, and make-up, showing readers how to turn perceived negatives into positives, celebrate their uniqueness, and be their personal best.

Beautiful book! Nigel Barker delivers., August 25, 2010 By Top Model Fan "Pat" This review is from: Nigel Barker's Beauty Equation: Revealing a Better and More Beautiful You (Paperback) What a fabulous book. Nigel has some great insights into how to always looks great in photos. I always try to look cool but end up looking silly. Can't wait to now use my Beauty Equation and do all the cool chalenges he ends every chapter with. And the book is so fun. He seems more serious on Top Model but he writes some really funny stuff. He used a lot of girls from the show including my favorite, Shandi. All the photos are by Nigel (or of Nigel when he was a model...yum) and are gorgeous. I see on his website that he is doing a book tour. I will be first in line to get my copy signed! Great Book, Great Message, Great Design... Just Great!, September 22, 2010 By Nick Trojan "Nick" (USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Nigel Barker's Beauty Equation: Revealing a Better and More Beautiful You (Paperback) I was fortunate enough to see Nigel at a discussion and book signing last night, and have to say I was impressed with both him and this book. I stayed up late reading it! For someone who's in the business of producing more-beautiful-than-life imagery, he has a realistic and refreshing perspective on what true beauty is. While books with the message of building one's confidence are not a new idea, the fact that Nigel is a giant in the fashion industry, coupled with the self-portrait assignments, give this book more weight than the typical self-help faire. Plus, the anecdotes and a look at Nigel's life experiences are funny, sometimes touching, almost always interesting. While I'm not the target demographic per se (I'm male, for one), this book still spoke to me, and I recommend it highly.
From the Author
What is beauty, where does it stem from, how do we obtain it? It has been my job to capture beauty one way or another for nearly 20 years. Through my work as a photographer, filmmaker and father, it's become evident to me that we consistently think of beauty as only skin deep. The Beauty Equation is based on my experiences on a quest to find what truly makes each and every one of us beautiful. As a photographer, I don't recall whether my subject was too thin or too fat, had perfect skin or even dressed stylishly. Rather, I remember the experience, how I was moved, and what it meant to me. When I point my camera at you and focus on your eyes, I can see whether or not you are nervous, I can tell whether you smile frequently or if you're a frowner, if you are happy or sad. To say we wear our hearts on our sleeve is an understatement. I believe we wear our heart and our soul on our face, and we give away our thoughts and position with body language. So by appealing to the reader to examine various attributes of inner beauty, I hope to reveal just how easy it is to not only feel beautiful, but to appear so too. The Beauty Equation is a workbook (yes, I'm asking the reader to do a little self-examination homework!). In each chapter you'll encounter a 'Teach' element where I cast aside conventional rules and use real life examples to break down concepts and ideals of beauty in today's world. After each teach, I ask you to complete a series of easy to follow challenges that will provide you with the tools you need to embody the teach with the use of a camera, video camera or just a pencil. The idea being that
YOU + allure + confidence + compassion + spontaneity + radiance + health + honesty + charm + energy ÷ humor = BEAUTY
Each chapter in the Beauty Equation sets out to explain the various definitions of inner beauty in an anecdotal manner taken directly from my own experiences. Culminating at the end of each chapter with a series of challenges both written and photographic. I challenge the reader to feel their inner beauty and allow it to expose itself. beautyequation.com is the ultimate tool in helping you get the most out of the book's challenges. This interactive website will enable you to build your portfolio, post your work and track your Beauty Equation progress. Keep your portfolio private, or share, compare and connect with other Beauty Equation users from around the world. BE ONE is the blog section of the site where you can post your thoughts and read articles and updates from me and a collection of BE contributors. I have specifically designed this site to help you discover your Beauty Equation and give you the support, resources and accessories you need to do so!

Fantastic book about beauty inside and out. It's not just a great book for people looking to be on the beauty business, but also a book to help discover the beauty within yourself for everyone in general. On these days when so many girls are worry about their appearance, Nigel shows with examples, how confidence and personality excel and is able to top any garment.
