If you've never taken a photo lighting course; if you've never seen how good looking British women look topless; if this sort of photography is something you've never done but want to, then
it's worth it. Other than that it's a great marketing job and basically empty. I'm ashamed I fell for the pitch.

This dvd was a huge disappointment to me. In all honesty, you could find the same information by googling photographer's blogs. It was incredibly rudimentary and much of what he proudly showed off as his final edit, still needed tons of work.

Even if you're just starting out and could learn something from this, there are books out there that will offer exponentially more than this dvd does.

If you're a pro already shooting, there's probably not much for you here. If you're starting to work in the portrait area, this is a nice boost to actually see the photos being set up and shot. I am a semi pro and I liked it and have used it now a couple of times. If you're just starting out it would be very useful. The price is very reasonable and it's interesting to watch the the interplay between the photographer and model...light hearted and easy. It's a good reminder that not everything has to be complicated, it's what you make it. I enjoyed it and have applied it...what else can I say?

Outside of the cheesecake, Nigel Holmes is down to earth, explains well and his DVD is full of insights. His presentation is simple, no confusing technical terms, just lighting, shooting and viewing. Worth the $20.00.

This is a 30 minute video, my first of Mr. Holmes. Shooting his video live, he first walks us through the posing and lighting issues for a simple headshot. He uses a light box and three reflectors, talks us through the model's poses, gives examples for camera angles, and shows us the final product. His next shoot gives us an example of how to use handy items as dramatic backdrops. In this case a black trash bag. The final result is the cover of the DVD. Overall I enjoy his passion for teaching, his quirky sense of humor, and his ability to keep things simple. At this price point, this 30 minute lesson is well worth it. I recommend this DVD to anyone who is new to glamour photography.

A minor concern was that my DVD players had problems playing this disc, though my laptop had no problems at all. I suspect the video is in PAL format, however the item description says NTSC. I wouldn't let this minor issue keep you from purchasing the disc.
