From School Library Journal
Gr 6 Up-This highly readable book takes a detailed look at the country, including its culture, government, history, and geography. Most sections contain inserts with supporting information from a variety of sources including current periodicals and Web sites. One excellent section compares rural and city life and explains the position of the family in society regardless of where people live, or to which of the many ethnic groups they belong. Selections from Nigerian poetry are also included. The facts are presented clearly enough for students writing reports or looking for specific information. There are black-and-white photos throughout. The main drawback is that there are no maps, and for students wanting to learn about a country, they are essential.
