Book Description

December 1998 1560722673 978-1560722670
A recent large advertisement in the "New York Times" paid for by the Central Bank of Nigeria warns readers of the ongoing professional scam operation being run out of Nigeria. Harold Baines presents a true story of being a target of one of these scams. Baines and his International Testing Equipment receive a letter offering them $8,000,000 as their share in a subcontract to the Nigerian government. Baines need only send an invoice for $30,000,000 and his bank particulars to get the ball rolling. If this sounds unbelievable, wait until you read the text of the correspondence and telephone calls. You will quickly see that preposterous edges into believable and believable slides into likely. As you read this book, there are no doubt dozens of unsuspecting Harold Baines' out there being snared by a world-class scam operation. According to law enforcement agencies, some are even being lured to Nigeria where several have already been killed. This expose reveals the startling details.

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT ALL A NIGERIAN THING, December 4, 2002
This review is from: The Nigerian Scam Masters: An Expose of a Modern International Gang (Paperback)
THOUGH, I HAVE NOT FULLY GONE THROUGH THE BOOK,BUT I BELIEVE IS A FURTHER EYE OPENER TO MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO STILL BELIEVE THEY CAN STILL MAKE EASY MONEY.
THE ISSUE IS THAT IN SEVERAL CASES OF OF THIS SCAM, IT TAKES THE GULLIBILITY AND GREEDINESS OF THE "VICTIMS" FOR THE DEAL TO SAIL THROUGH( I HOPE YOU REALISED THIS IN THE BOOK).
OFTEN TIMES, MOST OF THESE SCAM DO NOT REALLY ORIGINATES FROM NIGERIA, BUT PEOPLE STLL ASCRIBE MOST OF IT TO NIGERIAN. THE BOOK SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MENTION THIS SALIENT BUT IMPORTANT POINT.
OVERALL THE BOOK IS OKAY AND JUSTICE HAS BEEN DONE, THOUGH IT HAS A TINGE OF HATRED FOR NIGERIA AND NIGERIANS.
