About the Author

William J. Washington is a street educated scholar, born, and raised in Spanish Harlem NY. He has fought through health issues his whole life (epilepsy), to become a beacon of hope, for others in his community. A self-proclaimed Street Preacher, Spoken Word Artist, and now fulfilling his life's long dream by becoming an author. His continued goal in life is to be that voice of reason in a young man's, or woman's life, by ridding their minds of the word, name, title, the slur, "NIGGER"!

Mr. Washington did his thing with this book. Yes, it is a book of poetry, yet each piece is so personal and moving...so powerful and inspirational. It details the struggles of a people from slavery until now and the dictates and hardships of racism, yet it is full of overwhelming dignity and pride when the author speaks of some of our most legendary and historical African-Americans. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those of the younger generations seeking knowledge and truth of their ancestry and heritage. Superb job Author and Poet William Washington!!!
