I have been in EMS for over 20 years, and have read most of the novels about paramedics. Night Angel 9 is the best one I have ever read. Peter Telep has followed the advice of the medics he talked to to get background information from, and created a department any medic would be proud to serve on. I hope this is the first on many books to come.

Sorry for the screaming the title but I just couldnt help it! What a Read! As one of the previous reviewers has stated this indeed is a masterpiece. I picked up the book because I had some time to kill on a bus ride and wow is all I can say. I finished the book at my destination bus station (thats right, didn't even bother hailing a cab until I was finished) and not one time did my mind stray from the great character development or storyline. I have come to love the characters and feel as if I know them. Peter Telep did a great job with this book. If you are a fan of E.R or Third watch or anything like that PICK UP THIS BOOK and give it a read!

I have also just finished reading the second book in the series called "Playing with Fire" and that is just a wonderfully written as this one.

The only downside that I can see is that this is but a trilogy which means that the next book will be the end. This saddens me. I hope that some way we can get Peter to write more of these wonderful books!

Pick one up you will not be dissapointed!! GREAT READ A+++++

In his three-book "Night Angel 9" series, Peter Telep gets the medical part right. The three novels follow several California paramedics, firefighters, doctors and others through the routine and not so routine calls providing emergency medical services in a large metropolitan city. Unlike some EMS-related books, Peter Telep's descriptions of medical procedures and protocols are accurate and correct.
The books are best read in order, but are equally compelling individually. As the series moves from the first book to the third, the reader gets more involved with the personal lives and problems of Telep's characters, and less with EMS activities. The characters have depth and are believable. Each must deal with his or her own problems. The action on the street is non-stop and keeps the reader's interest. A good read.

With a mind-boggling grasp of trauma handling and on-site treatment, Peter Telep has given us a book that is at once informative, interesting and a definitely interesting read. Let's hope that Peter doesn't get so busy that he overlooks the painful chore of writing again for his readers. A GREAT read!

I REALLY ENJOYED READING THIS BOOK. AFTER READING IT, I COULD HAVE SWORN THE AUTHOR WAS A PARAMEDIC. THE SUPERB STYLE OF HIS WORDING IN THE BOOK, REALLY LEADS A LOT OF CREDIBILITY TO HIS WORK. IT REALLY BLEW MY MIND TO FIND OUT HE IS A ENGLISH PROFESSOR. THIS BOOK KEPT ME UP ALL NIGHT READING. A GOOD BOOK FOR "US" TRAUMA JUNKIES, TO LET US HAVE THAT "ADRENALINE RUSH". WE CAN REALLY GET INTO. THIS BOOK MAKES ME WANT TO RIDE AS A PARAMEDIC. THE BOOK ALSO MAKES ME WANT TO TRY AND WRITE MY OWN BOOK, ON MY EXPERIENCES RIDING UNDER THE LIGHTS AND SIREN. I CAN HARDLY WAIT FOR HIS NEXT BOOK. "LIFE FLIGHT". I HOPE HE CONTINUES TO WRITE MORE IN THE SERIES,"NIGHT ANGLE NINE".

I started out as an Emergency Room Technician in San Diego, California. I then left the security of the emergency room, and ventured out to the field as an EMT-1A for Hartson's Ambulance also in San Diego. I served as a crew member, senior partner and field training officer with Hartson's and then in 1983 I was transferred to a Paramedic unit in Chula Vista (as the EMT-1A driver). I worked as the Paramedic Driver for just over 9 months, and then was hired as the operations manager for the San Diego division of Goodhew Ambulance (a Los Angeles based company). I worked for Goodhew as the operations manger until 1987, when Goodhew sold their San Diego division to Med-Trans (who purchased Hartson's some years earlier). In December of 1987, I was hired as the communications supervisor for the Heartland Communications Facility Authority, a joint powers fire / EMS dispatch center serving several agencies in East San Diego County (Lakeside Fire Protection District, City of Santee Fire Department, City of El Cajon Fire Department, City of La Mesa Fire Department, City of Lemon Grove Fire Department, San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District, Alpine Fire Protection District and the East County Fire Protection District). In 1989 I was promoted to the Director of Communications for Heartland and Heartland took over the dispatching services for the City of National City Fire Department. In 1995 I left the public sector and now work as the Product Manager for a software company (ImageWare Systems, Inc.) that produces law enforcement booking software throughout the world. The reason that I'm telling you my work history is that I'm somewhat of an expert (legend in my own mind) in the EMS and Fire department operations.

Night Angel 9, portrayed the EMS / Fire system as it is in real life! You have done an outstanding job. I picked up your novel in Boston during a business trip waiting at the airport. I finished it by the time that I landed in San Diego, and laughed, cried and smiled the entire time. It brought back many memories, both good and bad. I remembered patients that I had long forgotten. It made me remember where I came from and how I started out my career. Bottom line, it made me feel good about myself and the choices that I have made along the way.

I only can say.....you will love it as I do! Once started you will never put it down! Peter Telep (Red Planet) new novel about paramedics is so realistic....you think you watch a movie. No clichés and no needless chapters.....Peter Telep understands how to entertain and he also knows what's going on in the world of paramedics! Every line makes this book to a thrilling experience! Go and buy it....you will never regret it!

Peter Telep has really nailed what the "lights and siren" life is all about. I can really relate to his book as an ex-EMT and now independent fire videographer.

I truly hope that he keeps this line of books going. I'm looking forward to reading "Playing With Fire" and "Life Flight".

Kudos to a man who writes things with honesty and down-to-earth style.

I read this book in about 3 hours. Once I started I was unable to put it down. Enjoyed the writing and Peter Telep has a wonderful way of drawing you into the plots and hoping that everything works out for the people involved. If you get the chance to read this novel, better put your name inside so that after your friends and family have finished it you will get it back. I can hardly wait for the next one and again lose sleep over a great book.

This is a GREAT book. A deffinate page turner. If you like real life drama you will LOVE this book. I highly recomend this book. I look forward to the next book in this series. Keep up the great work Peter!!!!
