Led by double-bass player Patrick MANET, OISEAU RARE is a new band that plays a never-heard blend of jazz-rock and Progressive rock. If its name can be translated as RARE BIRD, please note that the famous Dutch band and its French counterpart have absolutely nothing in common ! The themes of "A Night At Sea" (1998) are artistically built, developed and arranged. Those seven pieces feature inspired flute parts, courtesy of Nobby CLARKE. The album includes great cover versions: John COLTRANE's "Naïma" and the famous "My Funny Valentine". A great achievement, that can be placed at the crossroads between BRAND X, JETHRO TULL, NATIONAL HEALTH and PAZ. Not to be missed !
