Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Kindergarten-Grade 3-In this contemporary send-up of Clement C. Moore's poem, a family overwhelmed by holiday preparations comes to realize that "Christmas is about love./And we have quite enough." Energetic, exaggerated cartoon illustrations accompany the lengthy, unevenly rhymed text, which scans awkwardly and does not easily lend itself to sharing aloud. Readers searching for the true meaning of Christmas will want to look elsewhere.-S. P.

From the Author

This story combines all the crazy things that families go through to get ready for Christmas. I just hope they never happen to you! But it's fun to laugh at the silliness that holiday stress puts us through. So have a good laugh. And share this book with a friend.

More About the Author

Natasha Wing was born in Milford, Connecticut and now lives in Fort Collins, Colorado. After graduating from Arizona State University she then worked in advertising for a number of years. It wasn't until 1991 that she decided to write children's books. Luckily she sold her first book within six months and has been writing children's books and articles ever since. Some books have even ended up on bestseller lists!

"I'm curious about many things- people, holidays, underdogs, little known historic figures - and translate my excitement for a topic into books for kids to enjoy. I mostly write picture books, but after 21 years, I'm also writing middle grade novels and easy reads. Cross your fingers they get published! Story ideas are popping into my head all the time, so you never know what my next book will be. But that's what's so fun about writing."

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute and Clever January 5, 2005
By MEJ
Format:Paperback
This twist on Clement C. Moore's Christmas poem is one that parents can really identify with! It's about all the things that can and will go wrong during Christmas preparations, like burnt cookies. Yet the spirit of the holiday wins out. My daughter really likes this book and I think it is a pleasure to read to her. I don't agree with the editorial review that it, "...scans awkwardly and does not easily lend itself to sharing aloud." I love the illustrator's style too. It's a very cute and clever book that is worth having in your Christmas library.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this book! December 5, 2003

Format:Paperback
I am an English teacher and a new mother and I love this book. The way it plays on the Clement Moore poem is so clever and well done. I also love the way it is humorous and fun, and yet has a sentimental and sweet ending and ties back to the original Christmas poem. I would recommend this book to all mothers and children who like to read together!
