Every family has its holiday traditions. Dinghy Sharp's tradition is sharing this story with the entire world. In this holiday videotape, Dinghy Sharp tells the beloved story "The Night Before Christmas" as her grandfather told it to her when she was a child. Originally created by her great-great-grandfather, Clement Moore in 1822 as a special story for his ailing daughter, the tale has been passed on through the family generation by generation. It was first published anonymously in the Troy Sentinel in 1823 and published in book form in 1868. Since then it has become a Christmas classic and, enriched by the original lithographs of Thomas Nast, has given us a cherished part of our holiday tradition: Santa Claus.
Ms. Sharp was a Special Education teacher for forty years and is recognized as a pioneer in remedial education for young children. She works as a consultant with school systems across the country and is in wide demand as a speaker for educational groups. She also performs storytelling programs for organizations, libraries, schools and hospitals.
The program is captioned in American Sign Language by a certified sign language interpreter for the hearing impaired. The whole family will be entertained by Dinghy's lively, thoughtful telling of the story "The Night Before Christmas."
