5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved This Book!!!!!!
I really loved this book. It made me laugh out loud as well as shed a few tears. Cindy was a terrific, funny and sensitive heroine and Thrain was luscious and very likeable. I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books. Ganemede, Sparkle, Darach, Blythe. What a great idea to use Cosmic Troublemakers to move the story along and the vampire adventures are also...

3.0 out of 5 stars A little light, but not too bad.
I've been very eager to read Nina Bangs after reading some reviews of her books. Though I really didn't find this book as hot and steamy as it's made out to be (After reading all of Robin Schone's books, it's hard to call much else hot and steamy :D) That being said, this really was a pretty good read. I thought things would drag a bit here and there when the characters...

I really loved this book. It made me laugh out loud as well as shed a few tears. Cindy was a terrific, funny and sensitive heroine and Thrain was luscious and very likeable. I enjoyed seeing characters from previous books. Ganemede, Sparkle, Darach, Blythe. What a great idea to use Cosmic Troublemakers to move the story along and the vampire adventures are also great. Each character had a wicked sense of humor and great sex appeal. The sex scenes were HOT and fun!!! You might enjoy this book even more if you read Darach's story first in Master of Ecstasy. Then you will know all about Thrain, why he is looking for Cindy and what happened to him and Darach that almost destroyed them. The role Ganemede and Sparkle played in that book will help you understand them better and what their goals are. Ms. Bangs goes to great lengths to bring the reader up to date in this book and assumes you have not read the previous one, but it is so much more fun to read it all in story form. Buy both books. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrain Must Convince His Lover that It's OK to Be Part Vampire, November 20, 2005
By
Dakota "daxydakota" (Southern California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
NIGHT BITES by Nina Bangs was a fun, quirky paranormal romance. The sequel to MASTER OF ECSTASY, NIGHT BITES is about a vampire named Thrain who has tracked down the missing daughter of his best friend and now faces the daunting task of convincing her to go home. This is daunting because 1) Thrain wants Cindy more than anything and 2) Cindy will freak out when she finds out her father's a vampire.

I enjoyed this book immensely. For one, Cindy owns an inn that caters to people who want to believe in the supernatural - without ever realizing that real werewolves, vampires, wizards, and witches stay at her inn as guests. The chaos that these guests cause is pretty cute. For another, two of the guests are cosmic troublemakers. One's a fat kitty with super powers; another is a sexy lady on a mission to cause sexual mayhem. Of course, she fully intends to make sure Cindy and Thrain hook up.

With its nutty characters and "spirited" setting, NIGHT BITES makes for an entertaining read. I think Thrain and Cindy are a hot couple with good chemistry and repartee. I also like Thrain's ability to implant memories in people - his space alien cow memory was hysterical.

If you like whimsical supernatural romances, NIGHT BITES is the book for you! Make sure you read it's prequel, MASTER OF ECSTASY, first so that you know who Cindy's father is and why Thrain is so devoted to him. Both are cute books. Highly recommended.

***Also look for WICKED NIGHTS, NIGHT GAMES, and THE PLEASURE MASTER by Nina Bangs.***

4.0 out of 5 stars Another story to make you laugh!, April 13, 2005
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Thrain has tracked down Cindy Harper, the daughter of Darach. His wish is to tell Cindy of her heritage and reunite father with daughter and go on with his life. Telling Cindy he is over 700 years old himself (rather than a vampire) Thrain finds himself drawn to her, which wasn't part of the plan.

Cindy is proud of her hotel that caters to the people who want to be more than just human. Being over 700 years old herself, she doesn't believe in the paranormal (she thinks she is a genetic fluke). Used to the unusual, why would she believe her life is going to change when two cosmic troublemakers and the sexiest man she has ever seen check into her hotel?

When the humans start to get scared by the supernatural, Thrain helps her. When a real werewolf and werecat get into a fight on her front lawn its only natural that Thrain help her work things out to slowly introduce Cindy to a world of supernatural...a world that contains Cindy's greatest fear.

NIGHT BITES continues the story from THE MASTER OF EXTASY two hundred and something years later...so you can read NIGHT BITES first, but there are a lot of spoilers...in my opinion anyway. While I think NIGHT BITES moves at a faster pace than MASTER and I enjoyed the story more overall; I can't give the story 5 stars because I wasn't as interested in our leading couple as I was the secondary characters!

I'm greatly enjoying the series that Nina Bangs has started but I really get the impression that Sparkle and Ganymede are more prominent characters than the average secondary characters and for me there is a very fine line between rooting for the hero/heroine and rooting for secondary characters. Sparkle Stardust and Ganymede are a hoot and I love Ganymede in the role of a cat but I really feel I should want to read the story to see what is going on between Thrain and Cindy. Instead, I find myself more interested in reading the story to find out what havoc our cosmic troublemakers are contemplating next.

Something else, according to the cover, Cindy seems to be really into ice cream, so I really thought there would be more inclusion of her eating the treat, however, it seems Ganymede is addicted to the stuff. I just thought it odd how ice cream was played up on the cover, but not have it as something Cindy herself fell back on.

Regardless, NIGHT BITES has me laughing my head off. I'm hooked on the series, so I am really looking forward to the next book, but I still wish I was more into Cindy and Thrains' part of the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nina Bangs delights again!, March 2, 2005
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Well, Nina Bangs is back after a wee absence. When we last her was Master of Ecstasy (Dorchester Publishing, just reprinted so if you missed it before grab it now!) Night Bites takes up from Master of Ecstasy. Ganymede and Sparkle Stardust, those ole time-traveling troublemakers are up to their old tricks again. When we last saw them it was 1785 and Ganymede looked like Paul Bunyon crossed with a Highland and poor sex-loving Sparkle Stardust was stuck in the body of a cat - a talking cat mind you. Ganymede was running a time-travel come to an ancient Highland castle vacation business. Only one problem, the owner of the castle one sexy vampire named, Darach Mackenzie, was still about and very unhappy the cosmic troublemakers were doing their thing in his ancestral abode.

This time the table is turned. Ganymede is stuck in the form of a cat, and Sparkle Stardust is up to her old mischief making. It's 2005 and she wants to cause trouble for Cindy Harper and Thrain Davis. This book is a delight from start to finish. I laughed from page one to the very in. It's sly, sexy and utterly a howl, showing Bangs at her very best.

Cindy Harper is the owner of the Woo Woo Inn in New Jersey. She opened the Inn six months before catering to two types of clients - the delusional or the curious. She'd redone the Victorian manor, a la Adams Family, and intentionally played to the souls seeking off the beaten path. She loves technology, because the past is something that should stay...in the past. She has werewolves, witches and vamps galore as customers. Though Cindy does wonder why it's always were-wolves and not wereducks or werebunnines! Even so, when Thrain Davis crosses her threshold she know the Highland vamp is not delusion or curious!

Sparkle is now calling herself Prada Smith and with her `pet' cat Trojan, they are troublemaking cupids, looking to cause mischief in Cindy's well order, albeit unusual life. And Thrain is the perfect temptation a.k.a. bait for Sparkle's impish fun.

This stands alone, but it's so much fun when you combine it with Master of Ecstasy (a Reviewers International Organization Award of Excellence Finalist for 2004). A must for all Bangs fans. Not a fan? Try her...you will be!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth sinking your teeth into, March 18, 2005
By

(VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This new offering from Nina Bangs follows up on her book Master of Ecstasy. If you haven't read it yet, don't worry. This books just as good as a stand alone. In fact, it's better than it's predecessor. For those who have read Ecstasy this story picks up with Thrain, our last hero's buddy, tracking down his pal's long lost daughter. As he shows up to explain her heritage and ask her to meet her dad, wiping out his guilt of her having gone missing in the first place, our funny cosmic trouble makers show up in disguise to assure sparks start flying between our hero and his new lady.
The modern setting is perfect for the story line and the dialogue is very witty. Ms. Bangs is starting to sound more like Mary Janice Davidson or Katie McCallister for those of you who are fans. It's a lighthearted read but at 339 entertaining pages it's definitly worth the price. Hints at the next book in this series are also revealed with the unveiling of a new alpha vampire charcter. All said it's worth sinking your teeth into!

5.0 out of 5 stars Yahoo at the Woo Woo, March 22, 2005
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Nina Bangs always comes up with a unique premise and Night Bites is no exception. Cindy Harper is 700 years old and still looks and feels like a twenty-something. A freak of nature? Or could there be others out there like her? She opens the Woo Woo Inn in the woods of New Jersey. Tales of the Jersey Devil lure her there and she hopes one of the weird and wacky guests who descend on her will have the answer she's so desperate for. Enter Thrain Davis, a vampire and friend of her father's. He's hot, irresistable and has all the answers. Cindy and Thrain's adventures are fun and the love scenes sizzle. Sparkle Stardust and Ganymede, cosmic troublemakers, are back to keep stirring the pot. Don't miss this latest in Bangs' sexy adventures.

5.0 out of 5 stars lighthearted supernatural fantasy, February 26, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Whenever Cindy Harper felt stressed out, she turns to ice cream which helps sooth her especially with the strange requests of her guests who stay at her New Jersey Woo Woo Inn, the center of weirdness. However, the stress that Thrain Davis brings to her cannot be cured by a sweet cold treat. Thrain's best friend, Cindy's father; asked him to help his daughter believe that seven hundred years old like she is and having customers who are vampires, deities, and other paranormal ilk is real albeit abnormal. Even Thrain has a special bite to him, which frightens Cindy when she realizes he is a vampire.

As Thrain falls in love with his host, she reciprocates, but fears his blood sucking nocturnal needs. Demonic feline visitors Sparkle Stardust and Ganymede "Mede" are guests at the inn doing what they do best, interfering with the natural order of things so that chaos reigns. As Thrain makes progress and Cindy starts to become comfortable with her beloved and with other revelations, the cosmic troublemaking duet strike.

Nina Bangs is a master of blending ecstasy and humor within a romantic fantasy. The jocular story line is fast-paced as the way out cast makes for a delightful time for the audience. Thrain is a sensual sensitive vampire who feels guilt and a sense of betrayal by falling in love with the daughter of his best friend who he is supposed to help regain her footing. The inn is a terrific locale as the paranormal check in, check out, and sometimes in between. The bonus of the dynamic troublemaking duet of Sparkle and Mede add plenty of laughs. Fans will appreciate Ms. Bangs' lighthearted supernatural fantasy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A giggle and a moan!, December 3, 2011
This review is from: Night Bites (Mackenzie Vampires, Book 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
If there is one thing that Nina Bangs does best, its make you laugh and sigh in the same chapter! I have read several books by this author and my husband almost always asks me what I am laughing at! I even make him giggle when I read some of the more humorous lines to him. If she can make my husband laugh, she can make anyone laugh! A definite must read!
