This review is from: Night Bloom: An Italian-American Life (Bluestreak) (Paperback)
As delicate and luminous as the night bloom flower she describes, Mary Cappello's memoir redefines the genre. The sheer weight of Cappello's words and questions echo the very essence of what Anthony Burgess spoke of when he said, "The wresting of beauty out of language is the only thing in the world that matters." Cappello takes words to the proverbial mat, and always comes out on top.

It had a blue cover with a young girl with her arms outstretched. I found it very engaging--I have never read a memoir like this before. I did some real deep thinking when I read this. I think the paperback book cover shown on this paperback is interesting--I could do some heavy thinking about what this cover was trying to tell the reader..This book was not an easy read for me; and I would not say that is a bad thing. When you read as many memoirs like I do you should be prepared for ANYTHING!!
