Night Breed is surreal and eerie, effectively bringing to life elements from director Clive Barker's short work "Cabal". It's a shame that this movie is out of print, as it is a perfect representation of what good horror films should be. The effects are vivid and edgy -but not campy-and David Cronenberg is fantastic as the deceptively pleasant doctor. Clive Barker has such a wild and somewhat nasty take on what consititutes fear and horror, that all of his films turn out well. Night Breed stands ahead, however, as it combines primal terror with a human touch that makes the movie not only enjoyable but relatable as well. After watching Night Breed, it's is very easy to see that Mideon could be a favorable option to heaven or hell. It would be for me, at any rate.

Craig Sheffer did a wonderful job as Boone and Ann Bobby was good as his girlfriend. This is one of the most awesome movies and the book was excellent too. I agree with the reviewer who said Nightbreed has a huge potential for a sequel, that would be so cool and there are so many interesting stories that could continue where the first left off. This is definitely on my top 10 horror movies.

This movie is unreal! Never before has Horror and Fantasy been mixed to such a perfect balance. This film is genuinely both scary and unsettling, but in a way that also stays suspenseful. There is no real star in this movie as all the characters have their own special charisma. But you can't help but to come away with your own favourite 'Middian Monster'. Why this isn't available on DVD is beyond me! It's a REAL horror classic with a huge following that deserves to be seen in it's original 'Widescreen' glory. (and my VHS copy has just broken!)

This movie does a great job of expressing the feeling and attitude of the characters. It lets you see how different people(and 'monsters') think and act with each-other. What at first seems evil you realize is just misunderstood, and then you realize what you thought was good, is actually evil. I haven't read the whole book yet, so don't know how well the movie stayed in line with it, but I love it the whole way through and the ending makes me cry. This is definitely one of my favorite movies, not just horror, but in all categories.

Though the movie does detour from the book it's based off (Cabal) it is a visualy stunning and fast paced movie. The characters are memorable and the special effects are very good for the time it was made. It is one continuous ride that doesn't slow down for long before it rushes you into more action. I highly recomend this film!

THIS CLIVE BARKER FANTASY IS A WONDERFUL STORY OF DEATH AND THE PLACE WHERE YOU GO AFTER DEATH. WHEN A PSYCHIATRIST, PLAYED BY DAVID CRONENBERG, HAS A MAN KILLED, HE IS SENT TO THE WORLD OF THE NIGHT BREED. ONCE THE WORLD IS EXPOSED IT BECOMES AN EPIC STORY OF EVIL VS. GOOD.

This is truely a freaky movie. Not really scary but put together very well. The cast is pretty good also. Good movie to watch if you dont want to be scared, but still like to be freaked out a little.

Clive Barker's masterpiece comes to life through this film. The movie closely followed the book, which was awesome. This was the best horror film that I have ever seen. I've been looking to purchase it for years. Now that I've finally found it, I find out that it is out of print. And that bites. I hope it's rereleased soon. I need a Night Breed fix.

Nightbreed is my Personal favorite of the Clive Barker movies.

Perhaps it is best summed up, with a line from Clive Barkers movie, Nightbreed "...yes, God is an astronaut, Oz is over the rainbow, and Midian is where the monsters go..."

_I've followed Clive Barker's work for years now because there is always a rare degree of metaphysical sophistication and insight in them. You actually find yourself pondering a deeper meaning beneath all the gore. When I accidentally came across this film from 1990 it was no exception.

_What happens when the monstrous behavior of worldly men exceeds the behavior of actual monsters in the world? Here the "natural" comes across as far more evil than the supernatural. The greatest monster by far is a respected psychiatrist. Of course the police and townsfolk run a close second. In contrast, the monsters seem almost innocent. In a sense they are innocents for they have remained true to their nature. Monsters and demons serve a legitimate function in creation when it comes to the molding of human character and the forging of souls. The tribes of the night have always been a rightful part of the functioning of the world. It is when men come to exceed the viciousness and carnage of hell spawn that the millennium is upon us. You find yourself in sympathy with the monsters of Midian and their older, purer evil.
