Do you like Jelly Roll Morton? Do you like Eubie Blake?? Do you like Luckey Roberts??? Do you like Joe Sullivan???? Did you think that all the great pianists were dead?? Guess again!!! This young man from Pittsburgh brings to life the spirit of all the old masters with a power and intensity that few of todays top players approach. In this constantly entertaining album, the spirit of the worlds outstanding jazz piano stylists lives on. There is something here for the hardcore afficionado and neophyte alike. Some notable tracks include Jesse Pickett's "the Dream" and Eubie Blake's "Stars and Stripes Forerver." Check out the first recordings of the beautiful Bob Zurke jazz nocturnes "Nightcap" and "Hangover Square"--the only recordings of this wonderful material EVER! I can't think of another CD that offers the diversity of music you will find here--each artist played honestly, accurately, and always with appropriate feeling. A must for all jazz and ragtime fans and anyone who appreciates great music played well.
