Editorial Reviews

Limited four vinyl LP pressing. 2012 set, the first domestic release by France's mythic Natural Snow Buildings, a band revered in experimental music circles despite self-releasing most of their albums in ridiculously limited runs. The original Night Coercion... CD from 2008 was an edition of only 22 copies, so finally, the intense music that Mehdi Ameziane and Solange Gularte create on these tracks can be widely heard and appreciated. Fans of Popol Vuh raga drones, Flying Saucer Attack distorted bliss, The Dead C's intuitive chaos, and Islaja's oblique folk, take note. Natural Snow Buildings make melodic, orchestrated, droning compositions with layers of guitars, chants, woodwinds, percussive bells, distortion and delay. On Night Coercion Into the Company of Witches, they push to extremes, producing layers of stereophonic sound both nuanced and grandiose.

5.0 out of 5 stars For Those Familiar With The Music March 10, 2014
Format:Audio CD
I've got a simple hint or guideline for "Sabooski the Cat" that will not only make it much easier for that 'Krazy Kat' to scribble out pointless little "reviews" about unfamiliar music, but will also not sully the 'customer review section' with so much stupidity.

The simple suggested guideline is this: If you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what you are writing about, then please DO NOT write about it.

If you follow this advice, you won't be forced to insert so many qualifying (and revealing) statements into your scribblings like: "I'm not familiar with the sub-genre" and "This is hard for me to judge" and "I don't have a lot of recordings like this".

First off, it's ABUNDANTLY CLEAR to anyone knowledgeable about music (of any sort) that you are in WAY OVER YOUR HEAD here, so you might as well stop embarrassing yourself with these sad qualifying statements.

If you actually KNOW SOMETHING about the music you are writing about, another benefit (for everyone) is that you won't have to resort to describing VERY, VERY COMMON PRODUCT PACKAGING and pretend it is a legitimate criticism. In a tri-fold 3xCD package sometimes a disc is "on the verge of rolling right out"....yet that DOES NOT STAND as an insightful, valid critique. It means as close to NOTHIN as is possible. Is this REALLY the first time you have seen tri-fold 3xCD packaging? It's common stuff ... and you would be more effective by NOT PARADING YOUR IGNORANCE ON SUCH TRIVIALITIES.
