[...] Although the text may not be appropriate for a 1 or even 2 year old, as a Kindergarten teacher, I find this book very useful to help the children imagine the breeze blowing against their cheek and to imagine hearing the sounds of the story. They like it! The pictures are so beautiful, but I have read this book just as a listening exercize, pausing after each page to see if they "felt" what was described in beautiful imagery. It's a great book to bolster the imagination and vocabulary of a child.

This book is a great before bed book. The art is beautiful, and the words are full of imagery. Excellent for any child.

This is by far our favorite book for the Fall season; the words perfectly enhance the beautiful pictures. We especially love the picture of the sun setting behind the hickory tree and pumpkin patch. This will make anyone want to pack their bags and move to the country.

I bought this book so my son could bring it to a book signing at his school and unfortunately didn't have time to return it. I should have just bought a new one at the store because the condition of "new" was one that probably sat on a shelf for a long time and was opened and closed a bunch of times. It also was worn on the front, back and crease of book. Very dissapointed in the condition.
But the book is a wonderful book, I would recommend spending the money on a new book, it is one you will want to keep in your collection forever!

A very difficult book for a still-learning 7-year old to grasp - especially on his/her second day of school! No, I was highly unimpressed with this book. The words: Whippoorwill's, arising, mown, bleating, nestle, bristles, 'gainst, each of these words are pretty difficult for such a new reader. Attempting as a parent to even explain some of these words was difficult!

No, not for a seven year old, definitely not for "Ages 4-8" as the description states. I wouldn't even want to read this book, to heck with wanting my child to attempt it, which he did, which he finally succeeded at doing! Yeah!
