Review
Strange? Poetry in social work? But social workers have always known that what they see, feel, and try to do is more truly expressed in poetry than in prose. Few, however, have the gifts that enable them to do so; to sometimes heal a hurt with whimsy. Andrew Malekoff is one of these. Strong, bespectacled, and bemused, his poetry reflects his appearance. His verse is muscular and direct, undistorted by false sentiment, but never lacking in compassion. Enjoy the playfulness and ingenuity of the poems which follow, but be prepared for the surge of fellow feeling and the urge to help which they engender. -----Ralph L.
