Michelle Hughes writes highly evocative descriptive prose that straddles the paranormal and romantic traditions. 'Tears Of Crimson' is set in New Orleans and brings the French Quarter to life as the backdrop to her vampire story. It is a strange and compelling book and Cara dramatises her characters with detail and finesse. There is something haunted about her prose and she has an individual style. She is also one of the most active and effective role players on the internet.

The Tears of Crimson series was written from dreams I've had since I was a young teenager. These dreams took me to other dimensions and explored the relationships of the characters you'll find hidden in the pages of my books.  It is said that the lure of the vampire is so strong you cannot resist the calling, Rafe has been my calling.  As you walk through the first book of the series you will get to know my dream self Cara Faith Donovan.  She has been with me all my life and I now welcome her into yours.

The second book in the series, Eternal Crimson will take you even deeper into this dream world and explore the histories of the vampire race and other supernatural creatures.  As long as the dreams continue I will write about their world.  Enjoy your walk into the endless nights of Tears of Crimson

It is a captivating story of innocence, vampires, romance about the thrilling journey of a young woman's destiny as she falls madly in love with her very masculine powerful employer. He introduces her to his dark world fill of secrets and mystery. This author has a gift to write in the first person narrative and pulls the reader in to a trance as they are reading each page about the unknown secretive world of vampires. It is pack with raw emotions and passions which leaves the reader breathless. It is a mixture of fantasy and romance with lustful scenes written in good taste, opening the reader's imagination to visualize the characters and join them on their journey as they struggle through their personal demons and come to accept their fates. In the author's words "The windows of this club had been painted black and words, Tears of Crimson were painted in huge blood red calligraphy letters. The building seemed to take up a quarter of the block and it was two stories high. The place has always given me the "weeping willies". "Eternal love and eternal damnation, anything is possible at a Night at Tears of Crimson" If you are into intrigue this is the book for you.

I enjoyed the setup of the background, the plot, the developing love. I wanted to slow down the falling in love part because it was such an emotional moment. The concept was original. I think the book builds and builds. The end is truly a cliffhanger and by that time, I had a complete sense of characters and the plot so I really wanted more.

The storyline flows easily. The worlds just keep moving. The point of view changes, but after I expected the change, I understood it better. I feel like the concepts came naturally to the author. I feel like she completely envisioned the world and the scenes. So refreshing! Eventually, I was there in the world, too....and once I crossed over, I was completely immersed. I think this is what a paranormal romance is all about.

If you want love and the developing romance, well-written sex scenes, a world of vampires and supernatural creativity, this is your book!

Michelle Hughes was born June 22, 1969. She grew up as an Air Force brat, spending her early years in Weisbaden, Germany. The need to travel continued for years into her adult life, and she had a fulfilling career as a singer/songwriter touring the United States. When her twins were born, she decided to take her entertainment career off the road, and followed up on a favorite hobby, writing short stories.

Now mother to five incredible children, and married to self-declared best fisherman on earth, she's enjoyed turning her hobby into a full time writing career.
