5.0 out of 5 stars Not Much Has Changed...
So if you loved the industrial metal of the first two albums, you ought to enjoy this one. As other reviewers have pointed out, the keyboards are more prominent here, but otherwise, it's that Deathstars sound - anthems filled with determination - you know and love.

3.0 out of 5 stars deathstars: Night Electric Night CD
The good part is, a return to keyboards, on this record, which makes up a big part of their sound, in a style, somewhat like Gary Numan. The music itself, although interesting, was somewhat lacking, in other areas. The members of Deathstars looks like five Marilyn Mansons' heavy makeup, and almost matching uniforms.

REVIEW FOR DEATHSTARS FANS

First,I want to thanx to my friend Gianny Painkiller, that bought me this Electric Night album as a CD+DVD format that I wanted, and I am sorry that he couldn't bough me this from Amazon but was not exist and neither from Ebay site, were was too expensive for us,but finally he found it on Romanian Bestial Records site,on a good price, from where I recommended you both to buy it.

Second,I want to say to the music fans ,that even if I discovered this band recently, also I liked their music enough to put them in my favorite top bands, and enough to want to write this review over this album for the fans that love industrial music and that didn't hear about this band yet.

Third, the band was born in 2000,in Stockholm,Sweden, over the only name of Deathstars, being formed by the drummer Ole Ohman, know as "Bone W Machine",and the guitarist and keyboardist Emil Nodtveidt, known as "Nightmare Industries"and late they bring the vocalist Andreas Bergh, known as"Whiplaser Bernadette"who late bring the lead guitarist Erick Halvorsen, but late they change the drummer with Oscar Leander, known as "Vice "and chanced the lead guitar too with Eric Backman, known as"Cat Casino" and also bring the bass Johan Cangur, known as "Skinny Disco",the actual formula, and sessionaly they bring e female vocals,Johanna Beckstrom, and Ann Ekberg, they play industrial and gothic metal, with cool rhythm, cool sound effects, dark lyrics, and they are known for their military clothes, and their painted faces, they actually have 3 albums,7 videos,a Golden Gods award from Metal Hammer as the best newcomers, the Champions Belt at "Get in the Ring "contest in London,UK,and also a good rate of 84% in the "Lords of Metal" website, for this Electric Night album.

Four, this album, that should named"Deathglam" first, was recorded a half in 2007,in Sweden and other half in 2008 in New York, over the Nuclear Blast, and is able in 3 editions,a Golden Edition that contain 1 CD ,with 11 songs and 3 bonus tracks,a Golden Edition which contain 1 CD + 1 DVD,this one we talk about,on the CD are the same 11 songs, plus the same 3 bonuses, and on the DVD are 5 videos, and plus 5 making off over these videos, and finally a Platinum Edition, that contain 2 CD+1 DVD, on the CD 1,are the same 11 songs with the bonuses,on CD 2 are 17 songs, some re-mixed,some demos, and some unreleased, and on the DVD,the same videos and making off.

Five, this Golden Edition I have and that contain just 1 CD and the DVD,contain on the CD,that 11 songs, plus 3 bonuses,a interesting remix over Night Electric Night song, other variant of Via End song, and a piano version of Electric Night, and on the DVD,are 4 good making and interesting videos, plus 4 cool making off over these videos, then the graphic inside of DVD is a cool one,and could be use as wallpaper and as screesaver, then the box is of 10 note,a luxury one,all dressed in black with imprint in gold letters over the band and album logos, the booklet inside contain song lyrics and members photos, and the both discs have an interesting design, also the sound quality of the studio sound for the disc is cool, and the video quality in the clips is cool too.

Six,I listed below the songs from this album, but because is about a personal review,I listed these in the order of my favorites:

1.Night Electric Night
2.Death Die Hard
3.Chertograd
4.Opium
5.Arlight
6.Blood Stein Blondes
7.The Fuel Ignites
8.Via the End
9.Mark of The Gun
10.Venus in Arms
11.Babylon

12.Night Electric Night(re-mix)
13.Night Electric Night(featuring)
14.Via the End(piano version)

MESSAGE FOR THE BAND:

I want to congratulate you for the ingenious music you do,for your interesting song compositions, for your dark lyrics compositions, for your distinctive way of be on stage, wearing your dark military dresses and painted faces, finally for this CD-DVD,but I hope that in the future you will record a Live concert DVD,as we the fans that never saw you live,to see you live at least on DVD,but I also hope that you will think to come to perform in Romania one day,as we,the Romanians, to see you at least once.

5.0 out of 5 stars Death Metal + Harmony, May 13, 2011
Heavy guitars, low, disturbing (in a good way) vocals, and lyrics that don't always make perfect sense, makes for a really good album. Just as strong as their last album, Termination Bliss (also an awesome listen) and even more polished. This is not to be missed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sisters of Mercy meets Type 0 Negative and HIM with a guy that doesn't "sing", January 18, 2011
This review is from: Night Electric Night (Audio CD)
Great music. I mean, just great. Production and recording, guitars and everything. Even the lyrics are nice and dark and weird - even silly at times. They definitely have some 69 Eyes influence going on. But for what it's worth - the vocals i.e. "Lead Singer" doesn't really sing at all, it's like he's reading lines in a play trying to be the evil dracula guy. But I guess that's the point here. So it's fun once you get over the non-singing voice and embrace this for the dark fun that it is. It's like a carnival gone evil because they summonded the dark lord himself, but the circus kept performing. Enjoy the dark weirdness of this album if you are into that stuff. HIM, 69 Eyes, Sisters of Mercy, Type 0 Negative. Deathstars sound is unique thanks to the spoken deep lyrics and deserves a full listen to embrace what they are trying to do. Music that drowns my soul in darkness.... not a bad thing :-)

Reviews here draw very innaccurate comparisons. it sounds sort of like rammstein meets norther with elements of goth and pop. if you dont know norther think children of bodom but slower and less thrashy. its european melodic death metal!! they are from sweden and all the members played in other death metal bands. the singing is in english and the lyrics are more interesting and fun than rammstein. they also scream more than ramm. one, maybe two songs that arent excellent. very solid cd. dont compare to marilyn m. these guys are musicians not a circus act. well a bit of a circus act but mainly musicians. very unique and nearly perfectly executed.

I bought this because some reviewers said that fans of Marilyn Manson would like this. The main singer has a pretty good voice, but after a while, it all sounded the same. I'd probably recommend NIGHT ELECTRIC NIGHT!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Deathstars are like nothing in the music business and the next big thing, July 2, 2009
This review is from: Night Electric Night (Audio CD)
UNBELIEVABLE ALBUM!!! I thought there was no way that Deathstars could rival their last album Termination Bliss but they did. It is fun to watch this band grow up before my eyes and gain a following. I have been pushing Deathstars here in America for years. BUY THIS ALBUM! Every song is great and Whiplasher is amazing as usual. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
