Editorial Reviews

Review

"The plot is suspenseful and full of drama, in every sense of that word. But it is the characters and how they reacted to the events depicted that floated through my thoughts between reading sessions and after closing the virtual covers for the last time." - BigAl of BigAl's Books and Pals Blog.

From the Author

Night Flight is a tense fictional drama that addresses the issues of lost love and the extremes we go through to reconnect. Although the story revolves around the lives of two women who become partners with each other, this is not necessarily lesbian fiction, though there are mild sex scenes between them. The purpose of featuring a same-sex couple is not to promote gay marriage or take a political position, but to show how normal same-sex couples lives can really be. Disclaimer: I am supportive of same-sex marriage and am in a legal same-sex marriage.

Though many of life's problems don't target gender or sexual orientation, each of us brings our unique perspective to addressing problems, and the women between these pages face their issues in their own ways. It is my hope that readers don't consider this simply lesbian fiction, but rather a tense, gripping story involving a same-sex couple.

I trust you will enjoy Night Flight, and I ask you to take time to give a review when you're finished.

Night Flight, by Alessa Adamo, is a fast-paced, moving tale of love, loss, guilt and redemption. The complex characters, including an anguished mother, her tough, prickly, vulnerable same-sex partner, and her troubled teen-aged daughter, hold the reader's sympathies. The scenes in which the story is played out, including the early morning Tokyo fish market, a lonely diner in the Tehachapi Mountains, a bikers' bar on the Northern California coast, and a storm over the Pacific, are vividly presented. This book is an excellent read for summer, winter, or almost any occasion, though perhaps not during a night flight to Japan.

From the start this story grabs you! Do not make plans when you start this book as I finished it the same day! It is fast paced and exciting! Leaves me wanting more and I am looking forward to Alessa Adamo's next book. Just do not read while flying!

Night Flight is a family drama, about a "modern" family, but with all the traditional problems of divorce and mother-daughter issues. It is compelling and surprising in it's story, sensitive and makes you think outside your box. I couldn't put it down. Excellent summer or anytime read.

I had to keep reading this book, even when I was very worried about the characters. I was on the edge of my seat - but at least it wasn't a plane seat. The author developed the characters of the mother, daughter, and the mother's girlfriend into complex, realistic people, with very difficult problems. Although the events of the book make it a thriller, the pain of the characters and their search for love and healing make it a psychological drama. The book is very well written and quite cinematic - the locales really came alive in my imagination (it may help that some were familiar to me). I did find the ending difficult to read, but perhaps many endings are difficult to write.

It is not very often I give 5 stars but there was not any way I could give this story any less. I think it was very well written and made me feel what was happening at the moment. I felt as if I was on a rollercoaster, emotionally. I would also suggest you have plenty of time when you start to read because you are not going to want to put the book, or in my case, kindle down. When you do get to the end you are still going to want more.

I will be looking forward to Alessa Adamo's next novel.

Since I only paid 99 cents for this, I have to admit that I almost put this one down about 60% into reading it. If you are into truly dysfunctional relationships you might enjoy this. What I got out of it was a weak woman who had married a completely selfish man and apparently had a daughter that grew up into a selfish young lady. After divorcing the man she meets an incredibly selfish alcoholic lesbian. Who was it that I was supposed to like in this story?
Spoiler warning) When someone's daughter gets killed you run off and feel sorry for yourself and drink? Were we supposed to think this was some tall, handsome brooding lesbian that just needed a little love? No way I'd have ever welcomed back a partner that was so uncaring!
I am a lesbian myself and was actually hoping that Melissa would ditch the idiots in her life and go to the straight man that seemed to be the only person in the book to care more about others than himself.
When Melissa's father makes a statement about his daughter finally finding peace I realized that at least one person had some sense. He was right.....but alas.....I won't give away the end.
Some may enjoy this but I like stronger characters with brains so this was not for me.

I thought this book was much too predictable. You could tell what was going to happen long before it did. There was very little to it.

Whoever wrote this knew quite a bit about aircraft. Interesting story about a lifestyle I knew very little about. In the end love is all there is.
