I remember I was staying up late one night, flipping around for something good on SHOWTIME (I was alot younger when this happened, early teens maybe)......and I come across "Night Life." The opening scene of this movie is actually quite creepy...and the movie makes sure you keep your interest from beginning to end! Even today, when I am alot older, the scares in this movie still SCARE me. That's why I love this flick.....well, that, and it also has a sense of humor.

Watch this on a dark night, it will freak you out. The suspense is AWESOME, like none seen in horror movies in a long time. The characters are loveable, and this movie is just an all-out roller-coaster ride that never stops entertaining you.

80s horror is somewhat of an acquired taste. I firmly believe that you must have lived and grown up as a film fan in the 80s for you to really get 80s movies in general ... much less 80s horror movies. For 80s horror you have to have grown up and really appreciated horror at the time. Horror, comedy reached a new height in the late 70s and early 80s. You had films like EVIL DEAD (and more specifically EVIL DEAD 2), NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, A MIDNIGHT HOUR, CHUD, Q, THE STUFF, BONEYARD, I MADMAN, RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD 1 & 2, etc, etc, etc. You had to appreciate a little cheese in these instances to appreciate the entertainment value of these types of horror films. The reason I'm preface NIGHT LIFE by saying all this is because NIGHT LIFE is really one of these types of horror films. Real 80s horror, 80s cheese. Like FRIGHT NIGHT and MY BEST FRIEND IS A VAMPIRE. Don't take it too seriously. No one's going to win any acting awards. The plot's a little predictable. But it's fun with a capital F. NIGHT OF THE COMET fun. MOTHER'S DAY fun. It's the kid that nobody gets who one dark and stormy night gets the girl and takes revenge on the bullys that made his life a living hell up to this point fun. Enjoy. If you've a pension for real 80s horror, cheese, I highly recommend. And come on studios ... let's put this out on DVD already.
