A really beautiful piece of music!!!,
This review is from: Night Light (Audio CD)
Vidia Wesenlund is a Norwegian singer, now based in the deserts of New Mexico. Vidia's beautiful and angelic voice sings in Norwegian and Swedish lullabies from Scandinavia. Masterfully backed up by Michael Stearns on samplers & synths with other guests (including Steve Gorn) playing skillfully on bansuri flute, harp, nyckelharpa (key harp), violins, drums, synths... "Night Light" is full of very deep, mysterious, intimate and evocative music and I must say that Vidia's voice is absolutely mesmerizing. Many of us are used to more dramatic soundscapes of Michael Stearns, but his sounds on "Night Light" are beautifully tranquil and work perfectly with Vidia's voice magics. This is a really nice piece of music (and artwork too!!!) by the strong line-up of gifted and respected musicians and producers. And also a very enjoyable journey into the woods of the Northern territories!!! I hope to hear more from Vidia in the near future, maybe even another collaboration with Michael... Thank you so much for sharing your emotions with us, Vidia!!!

I first heard this album on 'Hearts of Space', a wonderful internet-based, 'streaming' music program for the discerning [read: easy-listening/downtempo/etc.] crowd. The program in question featured this album almost in its entirety, and once I heard the first few tracks I knew I had to add it to my library. Whether you are a fan of downtempo/easy-listening/ethnic [Scandinavian] music, this album is a must-have; it will not disappoint you.
