4.0 out of 5 stars You should have heard what they left out!

Robin Williams is flat-out insane on stage, and "A Night ..." does a fairly good job of catching his insanity. From riffs on Tom Landry directing "Swan Lake" ("take Giselle, throw her downfield ten, fifteen yards!") to getting busted with cocaine ("I'm okay, I'm okay, red, blue, red, blue--OH, ...) to fatherhood ("I expected three nomads to come into the delivery...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the William's I was expecting.
As a stand-up comedian, Robin William's gift is as an improvisational master. The legends go that he would do three shows a night and would be completely different each time. In addition, the shows would have a kinetic energy that made the audience at times nervous, but when he connected it would bring them back for another show. I tell you this not because I want to...

From riffs on Tom Landry directing "Swan Lake" ("take Giselle, throw her downfield ten, fifteen yards!") to getting busted with cocaine ("I'm okay, I'm okay, red, blue, red, blue--OH, ...) to fatherhood ("I expected three nomads to come into the delivery room--'we saw a star, dude?'"), only the most humor-resistant won't crack up. The only disappointment is that this wasn't a double CD, since Robin did about 2.5 hours at our show, a lot of which was even funnier than what appears here! Believe it or not, Robin only made three comedy albums--his first two, "Reality ... what a concept" and "Throbbing Python of Love" are long out of print. "Reality" is his funniest, but "A Night ..." isn't far behind. Yeah, he's now an Oscar-winning actor, but "A Night ..." reminds us that Robin Williams wasn't always so earnest ...

5.0 out of 5 stars Robin tells it like it is, July 7, 1999
Ever wonder what it would be like if someone told you the facts of life in the form of comedy? Well folks,it doesn't get any better than this! Great Quote: After seeing his child after his wife gave birth, "My God he's hung like a bear.." and the doc says... "...that's the umbilical cord Mr.Williams." Every time I listen it,I appreciate his honesty more!.."If you want ribs,go get barbecue." "A woman should be president, there would never be a war...just every 28 days,SEVERE NEGOTIATIONS."

5.0 out of 5 stars This man is a nut!, May 4, 2002

I don't think Robin Williams does standup much anymore, as he has tried to be both an artist in both comedy and dramatic movies. However, after listening to Williams do his "A Night at the Met" concert in the late 1980's, I am convinced Robin Williams was one of the master of the stand-up comics. Johnny Carson once called him the man that would do anything and everything at any time. Most men would do their routine and be serious for the rest of the night on a talk show. Not Williams, as he would continue to entertain and do off the wall humor until everybody had almost died from laughter.

Williams can almost be described as "insane" on this album. He improvs for the first few minutes, and then launches into everything from alcohol and drugs, to President Reagan, and finally to sex. The man for almost an hour drives you crazy with his twisted humor. It is a shame he would rather do serious movies, but I guess he felt he needed to evolve. Still, if you want to see of Robin Williams as the craziest nut on the planet. You need to listen to this.

What can you say about Robin Williams other than he is a genius on natural speed. He's the tops in funny. Wish he had other CD's. I love to laugh like this! Loved every bit. Highly recommend! AAA+++

5.0 out of 5 stars "Do you like the play, Mr. Lincoln?-DUCK!", January 27, 1999

Robin Williams is the master of comedy. Furthermore, his jokes are intelligent. Don't expect any stupid, slapstick stuff on this masterpiece. Williams is the master of his craft. You will be rolling on the floor and up the walls, clutching your quivering ribs and wiping tears from your eyes, with laughter. You'll be praising God for blessing us with such an undyingly amusing man who shares his insights with the world. If you have a sense of humor, or if you don't(like me), you must get this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars At His Best, November 20, 2006
This review is from: Night at the Met (Reis) (Audio CD)
I've had the VHS of this and the Audio since 1989, simply his best work ever. Still funny today. However my VHS hath died and I'm searching for another or better yet a DVD version. No luck so far, I did replace my cassette with this identical CD version, awesome. Will the DVD ever be available?

Robin Williams is one of the funniest people ever! His show is so funny, and is better on DVD and video so you can see his animated antics and facial expressions, but it is still to funny to listen to him. This is a really funny one from back in his earlier days and I do recommend it to any and everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the few..., August 24, 2001

The proud, the twisted! Robbin Williams comic genius is once again on display for all to hear. Wish I could have seen this show as well. The only words I can muster to truly capture Robbin would be spontaneous combustion. The adlibs, the improvisation, the explosion into several dirctions at one time, this is Robbin Williams. A journey into his mind must certainly be a strange trip, but never dull and always entertaining.

5.0 out of 5 stars Steve Martin on acid + George Carlin on speed=Robin Williams, June 7, 2001

I listened to this on record last night for the first time. (That is, it wasn't the CD, it was the extinct species of vinyl records. Yes, that's right, records. Can you say "V-I-N-Y-L?" Good boy..) I don't have very much to say, except that I laughed out loud a lot, and I thought this CD, um, record was hilarious. One of the second-funniest things I've ever heard.
