This is a quite servicable night vision monocular. The price is right for a first-generation night vision monocular. Keep in mind that higher level generations are much more expensive, into the several thousand dollar range and are restricted in use by the State Department. But this instrument is just for fun. Interestingly, there is a small metal loop embedded underneath the eyepiece for a thin cord that one would assume would then be attached to the lens cap, which unscrews, rather than pops off. Just wish that the monocular had a lens cap strap already attached. None came with it, but that is just a formality as you can get one at a camera shop or a discount superstore. The view through this monocular is pretty good, and you can make out clear images from a distance, about 60 to 80 feet away is my guess, so keep in mind it is a guess as I look out onto the swamp that borders my back yard. I will try for farther distances over the next few months. Even without the infrared on, the instrument is able to pick up quite a bit of ambient light. I hope to use this on a trip to Alaska, and to look at the night sky, shoreline at night and inland forests and tundra, as well. Many stores try to sell you night vision binoculars, but I find using the monocular quite easy, as it is lighter and it frees up the other hand. I would also like to see some kind of wrist strap attachment, if possible. I think it could be done, using the same metal loop embedded under the eyepiece. All in all, this is a very good monocular, and I would probably give it 5 stars except for the lack of wrist and lens cap straps. I like it so far.

Ok my mistake.... the seller never claim that this device actually have a zoom feature, but I was mislead by the part where it claim that it does have 4X optics but anyway. Putting that aside the Night Vision feature does work properly. I give it one star just because I think that at this price it should have a zoom. You can find cheaper devices with pretty good zoom. If you don't need or want a zoom monocular this should be fine for you.
