I bought this as a gift for my father and have been fortunate enough to enjoy it as well. The image is good, the double focus is good, and the battery life seems fine. I don't see a lot of practical use for this monocular, however it is a lot of fun to play with. An entry level device, decent enough grip, with room to improve the illuminator. Overall I'm pleased with this purchase.

Decided to use an Amazon GC to purchase something "special" that I wouldn't normally buy, so after much research, I ordered the Night Owl 3x Monocular. We have an large empty lot/area behind our home that's pitch black at night and often hear voices and people so this was a welcome purchase. Overall I'm very pleased with my first NV scope and very impressed with the performance. The 3x power zoom is handy but does give you a narrower field of view when viewing objects that are closer. The available IR illuminator works great for closer range or viewing without any ambient light and can be too bright when viewing objects in very close range. Resolution is good and I have no complaints as this is Gen 1 intensifier. The only thing I notice is that you do a fair amount of focusing when viewing objects at different distances; a small price to pay for the convenience of viewing in darkness. Battery life has been very good so far as I don't use the IR illuminator all that much when viewing outdoors. The unit is also compact and not very heavy, just remember to put an optional lanyard and cap-keeper to ensure you don't accidentally drop the unit or expose the intensifier to bright lights when the unit is on. Overall I am very pleased with the performance of this unit and it will make a great addition on any nighttime activity, fishing trip, camping trip, etc. My only wish is that I bought the binocular version as it gets tiring closing one eye for extended periods LOL.
