5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome CD. Never gets old!, May 7, 2003

I bought this CD in '97, after hearing 'Rocky Road' on an Americana radio station here in Texas. What a wonderful surprise! I adore every single cut on this CD! This music never gets old.... 6 years and it's still fresh. Listen to it one time and it's that awesome violin, next time it will be the bass line that gets you. There's an incredible amount of depth to this music. These musicians are awesome in their own right, but put them together! Wow!

My 11 and 14 year old daughters love it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Awesome Music!, March 24, 2009
This review is from: Night of Reckoning (Audio CD)
With the exception of a couple tunes I could do without, the songs on this album are absolutely awesome! Of particular note are "Rocky Road" and "Workin' on It." GREAT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Varied styles, all played and sung beautifully, August 11, 2011
This review is from: Night of Reckoning (Audio CD)
This is a wonderul record, made by a group of Nashville musiscians who don't make the kind of music that normally comes out of Nashville...this is the real thing, country, rock, rolk, pop, soul all mixed together into something more and better...the Dead Reckoning label has always been about making something other than the assembly line stuff that Nashville cranks out...I particularly love Kirean Kane and Kevin Welch, who have done several records together (the live 11/12/13 is especially great), along with fiddle player and multi-intrumentalist Fats Kaplin, who is also featured here (as is multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Tammy Rogers). Mike Henderson's guitar playing and songwriting provides a great counter point, and Harry Stinson's (American Music Shop) steady drumming, Alison Prestwood's nimble basswork...everyone contributes to the songwriting and the playing, and it is all great. Highly recommended. Dead Reckoning also has solo albums by Kevin Welch and Kirean Kane, Mike Henderson, Tammy Rogers...I have almost all of their catalog, and it is all terrific. More country than anything else, but influenced by all types of music, and informed by Americana.

This is a Mike Henderson band; there is nor higher compliment. I'm sorry I didn't review this CD when it first came out. If you can find it, buy it.
