5.0 out of 5 stars An unusual story that captures a reader's heart.
Kathleen Eagle has crafted an unusual story of tragedy and the healing power of love. I absolutely got swept away by the story that evolves around Jesse Brown Wolf and Angela Prescott. The tragedies that brought them together caught at my heart.

3.0 out of 5 stars .
The book is very strong in concept and characters but it becomes obvious that Eagle is not meant to write a full length novel. Cutting out at least 100 pages would make this really amazing.

Kathleen Eagle has crafted an unusual story of tragedy and the healing power of love. I absolutely got swept away by the story that evolves around Jesse Brown Wolf and Angela Prescott. The tragedies that brought them together caught at my heart.

The only thing I would have liked to seen done differently was the way Angela and her former lover's final scene was handled. This scene was the only one that didn't add up to the level of intensity that it deserved. Everything else was excellent.

I'm anxious to read more of Kathleen's work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spellbinding and Lyrical, August 7, 2003

(REAL NAME)
This Kathleen Eagle romance captivated me from page one and didn't let me go until the last page. Angela is on the run from a bad relationship, starting a new life in the city. A charming street urchin, Tommy T, becomes her protector and guide. After Angela is beaten by thugs, a mysterious man with extraordinary eyes shelters her and watches over her. Who is this night visitor, whom she calls Jewel Eyes? By day she befriends Jesse Brown Wolf, a handsome Lakota carpenter with secrets of his own. And then there's Dark Dog, a superhero who single-handedly disarms streetkids and rescues Tommy T from danger. Could they all be the same man? "The Night Remembers" is a complex web of intrigue, drug deals, and satisfying, passionate romance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Uplifting Story, January 3, 2008

(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)    (VINE VOICE)    (REAL NAME)
This a not a romance novel although there is a small amount of physical intimacy. It's more about loving others - mother, son, friends, community. It is a story of troubled people healing and growing stronger through loving and helping others. It is set in a drug and gang infested inner city, but it's not depressing. It's an uplifting story. Genre: contemporary women's fiction.

4.0 out of 5 stars Strange, April 28, 2004

My first book by K. Eagle, I found it captivating. Would that we could all change for the better as easy as these characters. I too was surprised that crafty Matt just faded away in the face of a new and improved Angela. As hard as he tried to control her it didn't seem logical that he would let things drop so easily. Was thrilled to see the turn around in Jesse in light of his horrible past. I'll read another if I run across one at the library.

I love all Kathleen Eagle books, but this one is my favorite! It has a love story like so many of us fantasize - the one who comes to you in the dark... dream of him and there he is! I will read this book time and time again.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Night Remembers is a story to remember!, September 6, 2000
Angela is running from her past. She's trying to lose herself in a new city, cutting herself off from those she knows, and not looking to find new friendships. She just wants to live in peace. But then she meets Tommy T, a little boy who befriends her and needs her. He teaches her the ropes of living in the heart of the city, and worms his way into her heart. That one little crack soon leads to a flood of new relationships, friendships Angela wasn't looking for, but soon treasures. It also leads to her friendship with Jesse, a friendship that could be more, if only they can both learn to open themselves up.

Jesse's haunted by his past and has done his best to cut himself off from the world. He claims he wants no connections to other people, but can't seem to stop himself from caring. Tommy T is only one of the people in the neighborhood that Jesse finds himself getting mixed up with. And through Tommy T, Jesse meets Angela. Despite his best intentions, he can't help but be pulled to her.

Sometimes lost souls can find their way if they have someone to lean on. This book requires a bit of suspending disbelief. It has a surreal quality mixed into the gritty realism of inner-city life. Fans of the television series, Beauty and the Beast, will recognize the same "feel" in this story. It was an unusual story, but a good read that will tug at your heartstrings. I enjoyed it a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars A really good read, March 22, 1999
By A Customer
THE NIGHT REMEMBERS reminded me a bit of the movie "Sleeping with the Enemy". It had a slow, easy style that is chracteristically Eagle. There was lots of plot, characterization and good "causes". Jesse and Angela had great chemistry! This book stresses the importance of FAMILY, even unconventional ones, as long as they are caring people. I like Kathleen Eagle very much and will return to her when I want a substantial plot and a slower, easier style.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think this is one of the best books I have ever read., October 15, 1998

This review is from: The Night Remembers (Hardcover)
This book kept me hopping all along. It was so exciting to have the mystery phantom appear and disappear through the entire book. Tommy T and Angela Prescott become very protective of each other and that makes a good family beginning. They each fill a need for the other. Added to Jesse Brown Wolfe, it just makes it more exciting. I think it is one of the best books I have ever read and I have reads thousands in my lifetime.

5.0 out of 5 stars a rivetting chiller and a brilliant love story, April 20, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Night Remembers (Hardcover)
Angela Prescott fled upstate New York, a place that had been home all her life, to get way from a stalker. She chose Minneapolis to live, figuring he would never be able to find her there. She was starting completely over, having to give up everything she loved except her dog. Her stalker Matt was a pro at fooling people. Everyone believed he was perfect and she was turning into a dangerously paranoid individual. On the streets of the Twin City, Angela meets twelve year old street smart Tommy T who adopts her and her dog. Tommy is all alone in the world except for a weird man living inside a cave overlooking the river. Tommy enshrines his hero in a comic strip he calls "Dark Dog". ....... Dark Dog is actually Native American Jesse Brown Wolf, who is a repair person hiding from society as much as possible. Only Tommy knows the hidden abode of the enigmatic man, who he turns to when Angela is knocked unconscious. Jesse reluctantly become Tommy's real life hero and Angela's only hope when her past and Tommy's past collide with their present. Even with a red blooded hero on their side, it appears that the future looks might dim for this threesome. ......... Kathleen Eagle is well respected by the reading public for her fantastic Native American romances and her current release will enhance her reputation. THE NIGHT REMEMBERS is a brilliant thriller that demonstrates the girth of talent Ms, Eagle has. For only someone with her ability could combine Native American legends into a contemporary tale filled with the redeeming power of love to heal all wounds. Fans of Ms. Eagle will long remember this classic story. .........Harriet Klausner

4.0 out of 5 stars A Satisfying Escape, October 2, 2001
Angela Prescott, fleeing an unhappy past, finds herself in a big and often frightening new city trying to create a new life. A charmingly impish Indian child of the street named "Tommy T" takes her under his wing. One night, when Angela meets trouble, Tommy enlists the help of his idol, the darkly mysterious, troubled Jesse Brown Wolf who lives in the night shadows and who finds himself, (reluctantly, at first) taking on the role of Angela's guardian angel. These three misfits, drawn together by circumstance and raw need, find refuge in one another and, eventually, trust, love, and the makings of a modern-day family.

Ms. Eagle writes an intriguing and touching story with just the right mix of Indian folklore and magic. The relationship between Angela and Jesse is exciting and romantic, and young "Tommy T" will pull your heartstrings and make you long for these people to come together as a family.
