The school boredom,
By "antisocial05" (My Chair) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Night Room (Paperback)
Ok, I dont usually read books, though if they strike my fancy I might think about it. I have to read books for school for a thing called reading counts. Anyway I like Sci-Fi books more than any other. This was a fairly good book, though draggy in some areas it kept my attention (which is hard to do). Over all this is a fairly good book, read it if you have some free time.

Great sci-fi/drama novel for mid-teenagers.,

This review is from: The Night Room (Paperback)
I read this book last year, but I must say it's one of the best. A group of teenagers who enter a program to see their high-school reunion find shocking, bizarre results, with a murder plot also mixed in. This book will keep you up all night. The solution to the story and the roles of a few minor characters, like the creator of Argus and the person who tampers with the program, are a bit complicated aren't explained entirely. The whole experience brings out the true feelings of our heroes, such as Terry and Ira. IT has adventure, romance, comedy, suspense!READ THIS BOOK!

I bought this book at a school book fair because I thought it looked interesting. Talk about the understatement of the year. When 7 school students enter The Night Room to "see" their tenth high school reunions. They figure it'll be a kick. But it can be disturbing to see yourself like that.Meanwhile, Micheal Radford, whose girlfriend broke up with him because of something she saw in the Night Room.He wants to get revenge, putting one of the school students at risk. This is my favorite book, and I've read many.Read this, you will not be disappointed.

The book, "The Night Room", was on a summer reading list for school. It sounded intruiging, so I decided to read it. Afterward, I found that I had made the right decision. The book was excellenly put together, and the plot was enjoyable and witty. E.M. Goldman displays a selected group of 11th grade students that were chosen to participate in the Argus project in the Night Room. This is a simulated look at their 10th high school reunion. The students find out that someone is not at the party, and discover that she died in high school. After beginning the book, I could not put it down; I read the whole book in two sittings. A great read for teens, grades 7-11. Goldman's plot is like no other that I have come across; a very unique idea indeed. All in all, I strongly reccomend this sci-fi like novel not only to teens, but to anyone who is the least bit interested in this genre.

The Night Room,
By Annie (Westminster, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Night Room (Hardcover)
This "children's" or preteen book, like many, has a lot of interest for older readers. The author has a pretty matter-of-fact, but witty writing style and the characters are familiar but not cliché. The plot, seemingly predictable at first, really becomes interesting when a major twist occurs in the middle. I thought the premise seemed like a pretty standard, predictable thriller/ high school story, with the narrarator drooling after the pretty, popular dream girl, but it turned out to have quite a lot more to it. The best part of the book was seeing how the characters respond and question their preconceptions after doing the expiriment. They all learn something about themself, for example the "genius girl" discovers a part of herself she hadn't explored, her less practical, feminine side, and others are warned about their potential weaknesses. I love how the author takes kind of stereotypical characters (the heavy, shy girl w/ low self esteem, the high school jock) and gives them life and background, but still doesn't attempt to "solve all their problems" by the end- just gives them a wake up call. The biggest weakness in the book is that the motives for the conflict are kind of weak and not fully explored. It kind of builds up a mystery that doesn't have much reason to be there & isn't fully explained, leaving you going "huh?". Still, I loved The Night Room, and would recommend it to anyone. I give it a four stars because it some of the sketchy explanation.

This is a great book to investigate the human mind. An elite group of friends are chosen to go through with a computer program that will simulate their tenth high school reunion, it is called argus. So far only college students have tried the program, now this elite group of seven friends will be the first high schoolers to try it. They will discover more then just friendship, you will also learn about the determination and intrigue of a young reporter, and a very serious realationship will bloom. This is an oddessey of the human mind. Their information was taken down by people called interviewers. Eeach one learns something very special or terrifing about themselves. Who is it to judge people's fears why of course only themselves. This tale also tells the dark side of technologey what you read may shock you or even terrify you. This book will make you think about your own shortcomings or your talents you may also realize your afaird of more than just the ordinary, You can also learn wonderful things or terrifing about yourselves. READER BEWARE, this is not your plain old dr.seuss story this is a wonderful book that will keep you up for hours on end and at the edge of your seat. They were told to wear loose and light clothing... The journey begins. Beware you may want to get off the ride in the middle, you will not totalley grasp the true meaning of the story.

I previewed this book for my son, 11. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found nothing inappropriate with regard to language or sexual references for my preteen. I couldn't put it down! My son read it in one day and liked it too

The Night RoomBy E. M. Goldman,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Night Room (Paperback)
The Night Room was a very exciting book! It is filled with adventure and action. The main character in this story is a teenage boy named Ira. Ira is a smart, nice boy that goes to Banting High School. He lives in a small cold town. Later in the book he is asked to join a class that will attend a new technology called Argus that will let him see his future! He later finds out when he is in the program Argus that the girl he had loved since elementary school was to die that year! He tries to find out how to save her. Can he save her? You will just have to find out by reading this interesting science-fiction book yourself. I thought it was very cool because of all the rising actions. Maybe you will like it to.

The Night Room by E.M. Goldman was a great book! I got it from the library yesterday and read it all last night because it was too good to put down. I normally don't care for science fiction type material, but this was so well written and everything came together in the end so well. I would highly recomend this book to any person who is looking for a book that they will enjoy, and it is really interesting. The whole idea of a simulation that allows you to see yourself in ten years is awesome. Read this book! It rocks!

By Darcy Jones (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Night Room (Hardcover)
The binding on the book is getting torn up due to the number of times I have reread it. Each time I reread I see things that I didn't before. The characters are amazing, each with their own good qualities and their weaknesses. Tess's transformation is one of my favorite parts, how she describes how she hid under her long jackets. The Night Room is a must read for anyone, not even young people, who enjoy science fiction of any kind.
