I am a fan of Ms. Adair but this time around leaves me somewhat disappointed because of the last book in this triology. First, book three was over priced. It was a ripoff for the publisher to print the first two books in paperback and to print the last book as a bound copy, and to price it three times the price of the first two. In my opinion, this is BLATANT price gouging on behalf of the publisher or maybe the author for all that I know. Second, to add insult to injury, both books one and two had better story development. There were spots in book three where I found the story development muddled. It seemed as if Ms. Adair was rushing toward a deadline instead of developing a plausible storyline.

'Night Shadow' is the first of this series that I have read although there were clearly several previous books in the series. I'm not sure if it's the author's writing style or if the previous books contained information relevant to this one that wasn't repeated, but at times I was very confused as to what was happening. The heroine, Lexi Stone, is a T-FLAC operative (I am still not sure what T-FLAC is or what it stands for) on her first mission when things start to go wrong. She's teamed up with a wizard with the confusingly similar name Alex Stone and desperate to prove she can be a good operative, despite having previously worked in a back-room office function. However when various terrorists threaten groups of people spread widely around the globe, and the terrorists all look like a younger Alex Stone, it's clear there's something very strange going on.The action is fast in this story with Lexi and Alex travelling from Taiwan to Russia to Los Alamos to Berlin in the blink of an eye. They are following a trail which leads them to suspect an army of clones is being created but I was never entirely sure how they made the leaps of imagination that they did. The romance aspect of the story was perfunctory and rather uninspiring and the complexity of the plot, where I always felt I didn't have enough information (and neither did they) to make the deductions that were made, resulted in the book being rather unsatisfactory. Some heroes/heroines of previous books were brought in towards the end but they didn't add much overall to the story and I felt my attention wandering. This review is from: Night Shadow: A Novel (Hardcover)
Alex Stone is an psi agent in T-FLAC and he has been charged with watching out for Lexi Stone, a new agent with T-FLAC. Well, new to being in the field. He's fully aware that they couldn't be more opposite if they tried and yet he is drawn to the sexy new operative. However, he has issues. His powers are wonky and when he needs them the most they don't seem to work. And the evil that he's been feeling seems to be getting closer and closer. Will he finally be forced to admit he has a problem before the mission he's on concludes with the death of one of his team mates.Lexi Stone's mission is to find out whether handsome Alex Stone is going rogue and if so, she is to terminate him. The more time she spends with him, the more she knows that something is wrong, but in her heart she doesn't think he's going rogue. And when he touches her, kisses her she finds herself having to choose. Do her mission or save the man she loves from himself. First off I have to say that I love anything Ms. Adair writes! This is the end of a new trilogy and a perfect ending for a fast paced series. Lexi and Alex's romance is fast paced sexy and a total page turner. If you haven't read Adair...I have only one question for you...What are you waiting for? If you love a smart, sexy read, you'll find it here!
