I am a fan of Ms. Adair but this time around leaves me somewhat disappointed because of the last book in this triology. First, book three was over priced. It was a ripoff for the publisher to print the first two books in paperback and to print the last book as a bound copy, and to price it three times the price of the first two. In my opinion, this is BLATANT price gouging on behalf of the publisher or maybe the author for all that I know. Second, to add insult to injury, both books one and two had better story development. There were spots in book three where I found the story development muddled. It seemed as if Ms. Adair was rushing toward a deadline instead of developing a plausible storyline.

'Night Shadow' is the first of this series that I have read although there were clearly several previous books in the series. I'm not sure if it's the author's writing style or if the previous books contained information relevant to this one that wasn't repeated, but at times I was very confused as to what was happening. The heroine, Lexi Stone, is a T-FLAC operative (I am still not sure what T-FLAC is or what it stands for) on her first mission when things start to go wrong. She's teamed up with a wizard with the confusingly similar name Alex Stone and desperate to prove she can be a good operative, despite having previously worked in a back-room office function. However when various terrorists threaten groups of people spread widely around the globe, and the terrorists all look like a younger Alex Stone, it's clear there's something very strange going on.
The action is fast in this story with Lexi and Alex travelling from Taiwan to Russia to Los Alamos to Berlin in the blink of an eye. They are following a trail which leads them to suspect an army of clones is being created but I was never entirely sure how they made the leaps of imagination that they did. The romance aspect of the story was perfunctory and rather uninspiring and the complexity of the plot, where I always felt I didn't have enough information (and neither did they) to make the deductions that were made, resulted in the book being rather unsatisfactory. Some heroes/heroines of previous books were brought in towards the end but they didn't add much overall to the story and I felt my attention wandering. Final Book of the Series,
By
This review is from: Night Shadow: A Novel (Hardcover)
Alex Stone is an psi agent in T-FLAC and he has been charged with watching out for Lexi Stone, a new agent with T-FLAC. Well, new to being in the field. He's fully aware that they couldn't be more opposite if they tried and yet he is drawn to the sexy new operative. However, he has issues. His powers are wonky and when he needs them the most they don't seem to work. And the evil that he's been feeling seems to be getting closer and closer. Will he finally be forced to admit he has a problem before the mission he's on concludes with the death of one of his team mates.
Lexi Stone's mission is to find out whether handsome Alex Stone is going rogue and if so, she is to terminate him. The more time she spends with him, the more she knows that something is wrong, but in her heart she doesn't think he's going rogue. And when he touches her, kisses her she finds herself having to choose. Do her mission or save the man she loves from himself. First off I have to say that I love anything Ms. Adair writes! This is the end of a new trilogy and a perfect ending for a fast paced series. Lexi and Alex's romance is fast paced sexy and a total page turner. If you haven't read Adair...I have only one question for you...What are you waiting for? If you love a smart, sexy read, you'll find it here!

After listening to the previous two novels, Night Fall and Night Secrets, I really did not get the trilogy part, they struck me as more stand alone stories....both good in their own right. Night Shadow also started out as it's own story with a few of the people mentioned in the first two books and then they started working together and wrapped the whole trilogy up to my satisfaction.
Cherry Adair is new to me and this whole wizard- paranormal- mystery -romance story line was entertaining and the bottom line is I liked them. I would tend to get lost at times trying to follow the bad guys and the whole T-Flac thing but it was new and different for me. I'll add Cherry Adair to my favorites and see what's next.

This review is from: Night Shadow (Audio CD)
This is the final book in Cherry Adair's paranormal romance trilogy. I bought the unabridged audio version read by Carrington MacDuffe. I definitely recommend reading/listening to Night Secrets before this one because situations start to arise in Night Secrets that are concluded in this final novel.
Without retelling the story, Night Shadow pulls in all the main characters from each novel and ties them together in a fascinationg and fast paced conclusion. If you are looking for something realistic than this is not the series for you, but if you like magic, wizards, T-FLAC operatives and hot sex then you will enjoy the crazy ride. I will admit that I felt the romances in the first 2 novels were a bit hotter, but I still enjoyed this book and thought that Lexi's and Alex's relationship was amusing and slightly comedic. Definitely a funky & pretty interesting paranormal trilogy.

Night Series Conclusion,
This review is from: Night Shadow: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
The final book in Cherry Adair's Night / Knight series. This makes reading the book worthwhile, because it rounds off the story line for all 3 books. There is more plot and less romance in this book, but the heroine is strong, with considerable intelligence and her own gifts ( although not a wizard herself). The plot gets a bit far fetched, but you are reading a series about wizards and magic, so what do you expect.

Good read.,
This review is from: Night Shadow: A Novel (Mass Market Paperback)
Alexis "Lexi" Stone has finally gotten out of the Accounting department and into the field. Being a T-FLAC operative is dangerous, but Lexi has yearned for the day she would work in a black op. Even though Lexi has no powers, she is now working with the psi unit. The Wizard Council wants to know if one of their top wizards, Alexander "Alex" Stone, has become a traitor. (Same last name, but no relation.)
Alex cannot believe that Lexi has been recruited and is now an operative. Though she has absolutely zero experience, Lexi has become involved in one of T-FLAC's deadliest missions. Alex is determined to keep the lady safe. Easier said than done. Alex's powers have been fluctuating lately. If his powers falter at an inopportune moment, both of them would perish. Protocol is to report his power troubles, but Alex feels that his abilities are needed too much right now. Several groups of terrorists "Tangos" have been taking hostages, demanding ransoms, and then releasing LZ17 (killing themselves and all the hostages) long before the given deadline. The numbers of the Tangos seem to be endless. The Tangos are appearing all over the globe, targeting no one country. *** THREE STARS! I had a hard time keeping the two main characters separated in my head. The names Alexis and Alexander both have "Alex" in them. As for the nickname of "Lexi", that small letter "i" is easily overlooked. (The same last name gave me no trouble at all.) Other than the two main characters having nicknames and first names WAY too similar, I found this story to be very good. The plot builds slowly at first, but if you read closely you can figure out the Who and Why long before the operatives do. Well worth your time and money to read. *** Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

Night Shadow- A Joyfully Recommended Title,
This review is from: Night Shadow: A Novel (Hardcover)
Alexis "Lexie" Stone has finally gotten what she wants, sort of, she is an operative. Too bad her first assignment has her spying on the man she has long admired, Alex Stone (no relation), for IA. Alex is a wizard operative that they are worried might be going rogue. So while she is more than just a little attracted to Alex, Lexi will do what she needs to do, and by the book.
Alex is stunned that they let the woman out of research, though she appears to be a walking encyclopedia she also makes his pulse race, and all his blood head south. Add to this his powers suddenly seeming to be unreliable and Alex knows this emergency mission is going to be a lot more than expected. Now suddenly Lexi and Alex are in a race against time against an unknown assailant. There is a super serial killer who has already killed thousands, and they seem to be a few steps behind the entire way. Someone seems to be rewriting the terrorism book and it will be up to T-Flac and the Wizard Council to stop them with Alex and Lexi leading the charge. The more they work together the more that Lexi and Alex grow to care for each other. While Lexi knows it is love, will Alex ever admit it. Night Shadow is the third of the Night Series stories and the first one I picked up. It is easily a stand alone book, but will make you want to go back and read about Luke and Sabastian, "sigh so many books so little time". But, do not let that stop you from picking up this action packed intrigue packed story. You will travel from continent to continent trying to unravel the mystery of who is behind some horrific killings. All the while you will get to see the interaction between Lexi and Alex Stone, who may share a name but their only relation at the start of the story is that of surprise partners in T-Flac's latest operation. I don't want to give up too much of the plot so all I will say is that I was stunned at how Ms. Adair tied some plot lines together that I never suspected were related, and I can't express how much I enjoyed Night Shadow. I can't give Night Shadow a higher rating than Joyfully Reviewed, so this is what it gets. Tanya Reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

Night Shadow is the third of the Night trilogy that is a part of Adair's T-FLAC series. Many of the Wizards that we have met before are once again fighting terrorists. A betrayal is revealed and Alex and Lexi find both justice and romance.

This review is from: Night Shadow: A Novel (Hardcover)
I love suspense/romance type books. This was my first one with magical/ paranormal type powers in it. Big complaints!
So the lead female is a normal person, not a Wizard. However, when push comes to shove and she needs to be stronger, the Wizard Counsel bestows temporary magical powers upon her! (That is cheating, isn't it?) And the so called brilliant operatives were NOT brilliant at all. It took them forever to figure out the simplest things, such as why the bad guy was incubating babies. DUH!! When first entering the baby incubator building, all of them should have known what was going on. Sheesh. Too much teleporting, shimmering, LockOut, dissipating, LZ17, etc. for me. We also had wizards and half-wizards. Oh wait, and near the end, when the author apparently needed another lame "twist," we are introduced to beings who are only 1/3 wizards. OMG, stop!! I had to skim the last 50 pages of this book to get it over with. Never again will I buy some magic-whatever type book. |
