Book Description

Nominated for Best Novella of 2012 by Grave Tells Book Reviews

After the fall of the Mayan civilization, Kane, an immortal Night Walker, has taken refuge in France for over 800 years. The modern world holds little interest for him until the night he meets the Golden Thief and is robbed of much more than his pocket watch.

Marguerite Rousseau is living a double life. By day she is the assistant to an eccentric French artist, Antoine Berjon, and by night she dons elegant evening gowns to woo French dignitaries before lifting their wallets.

Sparks ignite when Kane captures the thief, but Marguerite harbors a dark secret that could ruin them both.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to the Night Series September 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Night Thief is everything you can ask for in a full length book wrapped up in a novella. Kane and Rita's characters are well built and easy to form a connection with. An amazing addition to Lisa's Night Series but can be read as a stand alone. If you have read her first book Night Walker this will help ease the waiting pains until Night Demon is released and for anyone who has not yet read Night Walker I have to highly suggest that you do. This series is not one to miss and both books in it so far are definite MUST reads!!

When Kane thinks he sees a woman stealing from a man at a party, his curiosity is piqued. They call her Le Voleur D'or (The golden thief). She noticed his jeweled watch, he noticed her beauty. Each had a mission to run into each other again (albeit not for the same reasons).

Marguerite is desperate to get get out from under her "master". Men have hurt her in the past and she is always on guard. When Kane catches her going through her "finds" (including his jeweled watch); she denies being Le Voleur D'or. Why is she "finding" objects?

Kane is different, but too much like the men in her past. Can she trust him? Can he help her escape from her "master"? What secrets is he hiding?

When all is revealed, was more than a jeweled pocket watch stolen? Could they have stolen each others hearts?

A full story compacted into a novella. Wonderful writing and an exciting story!

4.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't put it down! October 7, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This is Lisa's first attempt at a historical novella. As a historical romance buff, I think it was okay. It had the same feel as Night Walker, and that book wasn't supposed to be historical. As with Night Walker, however, I very much appreciated the "ancient-ness" of the male characters. They are simply irresistible :)

Kane settled in France after the attack on his people and almost being killed protecting them. In the book, he claimed that he fit better with the French because of his skin color compared to the Mayan civilization that he came from. That didn't mean that he liked the French fashion, however. In fact, he rebelled against it any chance he got, resulting in open shirts and sexy chest and abs exposure. #Yum.

Marguerite was a thief that caught Kane's attention. I liked her strong will to survive and save her cousin from the claws of the vampire. She was the kind of woman who was stubborn and wouldn't take any orders from Kane. When Kane told her to stay put, she did the exact opposite, and that's exactly the reason why Kane loved her.

Some of my favorite parts in the book was the first bedroom scene and Kane talking to his horse. The first bedroom scene was vivid, sweet, and romantic! As I've said before, the bedroom scenes are one of the reasons why I love historical period so much - they are so much sweeter! On the other hand, the scene with Kane confiding in his horse Kukulkan was so adorable!

Another thing I liked in this book. Vampires and Night Walkers were differentiated. Vampires were bad and considered as monsters, Night Walkers were protectors of society. That's very unique and I love it. I also loved that Kane was not the demanding kind.

So first a little synopsis, you have drool worthy fashion rebel, Kane and you have "Rita", Marguerite Rousseau, as a thief who catches the eye of Kane. Kane is intrigued by her but he is well aware they come from two different worlds and nothing can ever bring those worlds together although little does he know, she's closer to his world then he knows........*evil cackle, muahahahaha* - totally not going to give any more spoilers then that. Lisa does a fabulous job blending a typical historical romance with paranormal romance. I'm not typically a historical romance person but I am totally a paranormal romance person and I loved it! In the book, like I said, you have a typical historical romance but then interwoven in it is another story about the paranormal. You have Immortals, Shapeshifters, Vampires and even Demons are mentioned. If you love either genre, I think you'll love this book? Oh and yes, there are smoldering love scenes. This book covers all the emotional gambit for your romance needs. Totally recommend it to everyone, well not the YA kids but to any adult, yep you betcha!
This book is a novella in her Night series. The first book (Night Walker) is awesome also BTW, highly recommend that one as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexiest read ever October 11, 2012
By Karla
Format:Kindle Edition
I got this book straight from the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

Why oh Why don't I learn? I'm at work, sleepy and grumpy (not the dwarfs) and is all my fault. I should know by now that If I plan to sleep at all It's a really, really bad Idea to grab one of Lisa's Books to read.

Why? because they are so good that I always read them on one sitting, what did that meant for me? a Night of no sleep drooling for my newest Book Boyfriend Kane *swoon*

Who would have taught that a Mayan God would look so much like the Nordic God of Thunder.. see why I couldn't sleep last night???. I spent all night either drooling all over my kindle or picturing some very wicked and steaming hawt scenes on my head.

To top it', his partner in.... crime *wink* is a sexy French Blonde. with a playfull smile and a super hawt body so yeah I spent all night picturing this Sexy, smexy piece of super drool worthy, uber duber hawt man doing some dream worthy things to her...

No sleep is possible after that, I swear!!!

Kane has attitude, he's cocky and confident but he's also really sweet and Rita well she push the selfsufficent tag way, way beyond, but at the same time she still has the whole damisel in distress thing going on for her. Cool points for both of them!!!!

I love Lisa's writting style and her world building, the plot is 100% perfect and sure as hell Lisa knows how to make all her female readers fall head over hells with her characters.

I can't wait to get my hands on more books, cause I know for sure that if it has Lisa Kessler writen on the cover, I'm sure as hell that It'll be a perfect book for me.
