5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, September 19, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Night Tracks (Audio CD)
I'm a huge fan of classical music, and when I was looking for a CD of gentle, relaxing pieces without the sugar-sweetness of Grieg's "Morning", I found Night Tracks. The compilations on this CD are very slow, moody, and dark. Perfect for falling asleep to or just curling up with a good book on a rainy day! One thing to note: I like the idea of having an "intro" to the CD. The first song ("A London Symphony") is only a 30 second excerpt, but it is very slow and sleep-inducing, which perfectly leads you into the beautiful "Death and the Maiden" and other songs. The Amazon.com review summed it up the best - it does have "that three-in-the-morning-feel", and it's all the better because of that.

I like every single track on this CD. It's perfect for a quiet night of relaxing, or for a Sunday morning over coffee and the New York Times. It even relaxes my dog! I don't recommend it though if you're driving or operating heavy equipment. ;)

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your ordinary tonal bubble bath ..., September 30, 2005

This review is from: Night Tracks (Audio CD)
I love this recording for its thought-provoking selections. I wouldn't suggest reading while you listen, you'll get too distracted. Maybe a long soak in the bath and a nice glass of wine. It's great for thinking things over. If I have a criticism, it's the odd themes from Dvorak, Copland, Vaughn Williams and Verdi. Playing just a taste of a theme from something doesn't satisfy. But the Bach, Kilar, Espere and the rest are wonderful.

This is one of my FAVORITE CDs in a collection of thousands! Not only are almost all the pieces gorgeous, but there are lots of titles rarely found! The performances are all exquisitely soft and loving. This cd is absolutely perfect for a quiet evening by the fire to soothe the soul! Would love to see more of these!

Truly one of the best collections of relaxing classical music. A must have for couples when the kids are gone, or just some quiet time alone. Soothing to the mind, body and soul.

This is by far one of my favorite cd's to listen to at the end of a long day. Especially in the winter months curled up by a fire and a good book.

Light some candles and crawl into bed with a good book or maybe even that special someone for evening of sublime musical bliss. This exquisite collection of concertos, lullabies and choral works will surely melt away any undue stess and ease you into an inner realm just short of nirvana. A female friend of mine even brings this CD to her massage therapist.

Every time I find myself awake past midnight, I listen to this CD. It does indeed have that "three-in-the-morning feel". I'm not a classical music buff but every piece on Night Tracks is well-chosen and played beautifully. No matter I stressed out I may feel, this CD never fails to relax me and fill me with peace and tranquility --- I can't recommend it highly enough. The album cover is striking and moody.
