For those of you who grew up in the eighties, in the dim recesses of your mind your probably remember "Night Train to Katmandu". Remember the incredibly young Milla Jovovich (then going by just plain "Milla") going to Napal? And meeting that weirdly polite young man with a secret? And the invisible city? For those of you who do remember, watching this film as an adult will take you back.

Jovovich plays Lily, a pouty teenager forced to move to Napal with her educator parents. On the train (at night, hence the title!) she meets the odd Joharv (Eddie Castrodad) who has crawled into her sleeping berth, not understanding the concept of tickets. He is exceedingly well-mannered, hopelessly clueless, and apparently homeless. But he does have a bag of diamonds, impressive martial arts skills, and a jade necklace that appears to be some sort of map. Lily's family takes him on as a servant, and a plot of a legendary invisible city and a Prince's quest unfolds against the beautiful backdrop of the Himalayas.

The film itself is a tad silly at times (and Jovovich not always a great actor) but the photography is lovely and Eddie Castrodad brings a certain sincerity to his role that's appealing. His scenes with Milla are sweet (and very chaste--this is quite the family film) and their resolution moving. I would say the film is worth having for those of you who loved it as kids or for those of you looking for a good film for your own kids. Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars good romantic adventure movie, August 9, 2010

I saw this movie on the Disney Channel in the 1980s. It's about a teen girl named Lillie McCloud. She and her family move to Nepal. She meets and falls in love with a mysterious boy. This movie has a great mix of adventure, romance, and intrigue.
