5.0 out of 5 stars Pure, beautiful, jazz piano, March 11, 2004
By A Customer
I took a chance and bought this cd because it was in the clearance bin. Man, did I luck out! The entire program is far and away one of the most beautiful, purely melodic combination of Brazilian and classic jazz I have heard in many, mnay years. If you like melodies that are just squeezed out of every key with warmth, tender-loving care, and great feeling you must run to get this cd. No gimmicks, no stryaing too far from the melody, just beutiful, lucid, gorgeous music making. Hats off to Arturo and I am eagerly awaiting your next cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful jazz piano album, April 12, 2005
By JazzKeyKid (San Diego) - See all my reviews
I heard this album playing at a record store in California and decided to buy it. What a surprise! One senses an artist with mastery of both old and new jazz piano techniques. Arturo has the ability to mix bebop lines, modal jazz, quartal harmony, and latin stylings in a single tune. Yet, his flourishes are always tasteful and never overplayed. He pays constant homage to a tune's melody. He shows his beautiful playing both with a group and on a wonderful solo performance of Puerta (track 10). I hear echos of Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, and even Vince Guaraldi in his music. This is a fun album to listen to, epecially if you like jazz piano. I wait in anticipation for his next release!

5.0 out of 5 stars Different, but good..., December 29, 2002
By "thediscountsite" (AK United States) - See all my reviews
I found this cd at a yard sale. It was kind of beat up, something atracted me to it. Maybe it was the cd cover's artwork, I don't know. Anyhow, This was my 1st latin jazz cd in my collection. It isn't my last, but it is my favorite. The songs are a combination of jazz and contemporary. I have many favorites here so I won't list them all. Check out the cd if you want to hear something different. You won't be disappointed!!!
