5.0 out of 5 stars The succesful turning point between Rumba's people and Blues people!, December 14, 2009
This review is from: Night In Tunisia: The Very Best Of Dizzy Gillespie (Audio CD)
The transcendental importance of this album resides among other no other musical virtues, in the special fact Gillespie had the magnificent idea of joining forces with Chano Pozo in pieces such as Cuban be, Cuban Bop and Manteca.

More than a simple musical gathering, Gillespie was writing story with golden letters, because this union melted two well different styles and approaches. The tropical vision of the glad rumba and Latin cadences with the accustomed vision of the blues, sad, introspective and meditative.

This record is a must-have because it's part of the legend and a successful fusion that originated the birth of what through the years would become the Latin jazz that would inspire musicians to come like Tito Puente, Carl Tjader, Eddie Palmieri, Dave Valentin, Mongo Santamaria, Dave Samuels, Michael Camilo or Gonzalo Rubalcaba just to name a few.

A thousand carats album of relevant importance.

This review is from: The Very Best Of (MP3 Download)
I have always been more into the swing the Bebop but Mr. Gillespie was very much a master of the trumpet.

Don't let the nickname fool you. Dizzy....like a fox! He could navigate all the way around a melody.
