Much better version!, April 3, 2005
This review is from: Night Warriors Darkstalkers' Revenge OMEGA (DVD)
I gave this DVD 5 stars because it is SO much better than the American-adapted version ("Out of the Shadow" and "Battle Storm"). I remember watching the American version during Saturday morning cartoon, and it was awful! Like who the heck is this Harry guy? And why does he and Felicia has some sort of relationship going on? It was confusing and terrible.
This version is much better. More violence, more gore, more action, better graphics and (slightly) better storyline. If I remember correctly, there are several key developments...the threat of Pyron, Felicia helping out the humans, and Donovan's lonesome fight with his inner-demon. There are indeed a lot of characters who got left out -- Sasquatch, Victor, Lilith, Anakaris, Jedah, Rikuo, etc.
What I thought they should do was expand on it and make it into a long-running OAV series (like Gundam or *gasp* DragonBall). The reason is because there are just WAY too many characters and every fan wants to see his/her favorite! Each character is powerful in its own way, so I don't like how this movie shows Pyron beating up others so quickly. Furthermore, I felt like the movie gave too much "power" to Donovan and made Felicia look like a helpless kitten. I really hope that someone picks up on this classic and make a good running series on it.

The BEST fighting anime, period, October 29, 1999
This review is from: Night Warriors Darkstalkers' Revenge OMEGA (DVD)
This is easily the best fighting game anime out there. With great characters fights, and even an interesting plot, this is a great choice for action anime fans. Not only that, the DVD presentation is on this disc is particularly good, with animated menus, trailers, photo galleries, and other extras. Viz and Pioneer went all out with this one. Another surprising point is that although the japanese 5.1 track is higher quality overall, I find that I enjoy some of the English voice actors better (esp. Morrigan and Dimitri). This is a rarity in most anime and makes watching this film in dub or sub equally enjoyable.

Morrigan was hot, but that's about it., March 19, 2004

I got the first episode on VHS and I liked it alright. It had most of the characters and was enjoyable. Then I made the mistake of buying the other three. I was very disappointed, they didn't even have Lord Raptor in any later ones and they just kept centering on a really boring story line. The whole thing didn't make much sense at all. I'm sure I'm going to get people voting that this wasn't helpful because they know the backstory of the Darkstalkers and will have figured out the story fast, but as someone going in with a (mostly) blank slate, it was just confusing. I do give it a lot of credit for the fights, because those were GREAT, but I take a lot away because of Donovan droning on and on about his dark blood, everybody saying "the dark" at least once in every sentance, and worst of all the final episode and ending.
