5.0 out of 5 stars Much better version!
I gave this DVD 5 stars because it is SO much better than the American-adapted version ("Out of the Shadow" and "Battle Storm"). I remember watching the American version during Saturday morning cartoon, and it was awful! Like who the heck is this Harry guy? And why does he and Felicia has some sort of relationship going on? It was confusing and terrible...

3.0 out of 5 stars Morrigan was hot, but that's about it.
I got the first episode on VHS and I liked it alright. It had most of the characters and was enjoyable. Then I made the mistake of buying the other three. I was very disappointed, they didn't even have Lord Raptor in any later ones and they just kept centering on a really boring story line. The whole thing didn't make much sense at all.

I'm sure I'm going to get...

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better version!, April 3, 2005

I gave this DVD 5 stars because it is SO much better than the American-adapted version ("Out of the Shadow" and "Battle Storm"). I remember watching the American version during Saturday morning cartoon, and it was awful! Like who the heck is this Harry guy? And why does he and Felicia has some sort of relationship going on? It was confusing and terrible.

This version is much better. More violence, more gore, more action, better graphics and (slightly) better storyline. If I remember correctly, there are several key developments...the threat of Pyron, Felicia helping out the humans, and Donovan's lonesome fight with his inner-demon. There are indeed a lot of characters who got left out -- Sasquatch, Victor, Lilith, Anakaris, Jedah, Rikuo, etc.

What I thought they should do was expand on it and make it into a long-running OAV series (like Gundam or *gasp* DragonBall). The reason is because there are just WAY too many characters and every fan wants to see his/her favorite! Each character is powerful in its own way, so I don't like how this movie shows Pyron beating up others so quickly. Furthermore, I felt like the movie gave too much "power" to Donovan and made Felicia look like a helpless kitten. I really hope that someone picks up on this classic and make a good running series on it.

4.0 out of 5 stars The BEST fighting anime, period, October 29, 1999
By
Carl Larsen (Claremont, CA USA) - See all my reviews

This is easily the best fighting game anime out there. With great characters fights, and even an interesting plot, this is a great choice for action anime fans. Not only that, the DVD presentation is on this disc is particularly good, with animated menus, trailers, photo galleries, and other extras. Viz and Pioneer went all out with this one. Another surprising point is that although the japanese 5.1 track is higher quality overall, I find that I enjoy some of the English voice actors better (esp. Morrigan and Dimitri). This is a rarity in most anime and makes watching this film in dub or sub equally enjoyable.

I'm sure I'm going to get people voting that this wasn't helpful because they know the backstory of the Darkstalkers and will have figured out the story fast, but as someone going in with a (mostly) blank slate, it was just confusing.

I do give it a lot of credit for the fights, because those were GREAT, but I take a lot away because of Donovan droning on and on about his dark blood, everybody saying "the dark" at least once in every sentance, and worst of all the final episode and ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pointless but cool anyways..., January 9, 2000
This review is from: Night Warriors Darkstalkers' Revenge OMEGA (DVD)
I watched volume 2 of this series really not understanding the point of some of the characters. Granted, the first volume wasn't anymore great at introducing them, the second one seems to just pour character after character onto the screen for video game fans to drool over. But all that aside, Vol. 2 of this series is awesome because of it's one saving grace...original characters that can really fight. The action sequences are just flat out eye candy for any Darkstalker or Anime fan. Don't pay too much attention to the plot and you'll be fine (Note-the story seems rushed at the end). The dialouge also seems a little funny because of the mention of "The Dark" in every sentence and the philosophical aura behind each word some characters say (i.e. Donovan)comes off meaningful at some points, yet will leave you scratching your head saying "huh" at others. Just don't take it too seriously and love every minute of the stunning art.

5.0 out of 5 stars Slow Beginning, Excellent Ending, December 14, 1999
By

Viewing the entire movie, I can tell you that it is kind of slow at the beginning, however it ties together magnificently at the end, creating one awesome conclusion. Throughout each episode the animation, the music, and the explosions were all spectacular. Not only was the animation rich but the dialog was also amazing. The stuggle between being human and a DarkStalker created some very rich and poetic dialog between the characters Donovan, Felicia, Bishamon, and many others. Because of this, they had a hard time co-existing with the human race, and I think that this stuggle parellels the racism and the stuggles between good and bad in the world today. The only way they could improve the video for me is to have Felicia (my favorite character) play a more active role in the video and to have her somewhere in the ending. Overall, however, the whole video was excellent and I would highly recommend it to DarkStalker and Anima fans everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Donovan is back for more!, March 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Night Warriors Darkstalkers' Revenge OMEGA (DVD)
In the thrilling second half of the Night Warriors: Dark Stalkers Revenge, Donovan helps the demon girl Anita by showing her the true meaning of christmas. As Donovan and Hsien-Ko battle the forces of evil, (along with subtly making jabs at modern day religious habits) many other battles occur such as the Very Cute Catgirl Felicia battling on a train which explods, and Morrigan deciding what to wear for her date with Dimitri. But the ultimate threat still lingers, will Donovan be able to overcome Pyron, his old third grade english teacher!?

5.0 out of 5 stars Night Warriors; Darkstalkers' Revevnge - Omega DVD, September 8, 2009

The sequel to Night Warriors; Darkstalkers' Revenge - Alpha, Omega is a must have for those who bought the first DVD. The animation, story and characters are just as good in the second installment of this great anime. The story follows directly from the end of Alpha so if you are getting Omega you really should see Alpha first (if only to understand why the characters are doing what they are).

This was a great finish to the OVA but the ending left you wondering if there would be more to follow. Fingers crossed that someone will eventually continue this story!

This review is from: Night Warriors Darkstalkers' Revenge OMEGA (DVD)
If you have a DVD and are going to buy Darkstalkers,..your getting a deal. You save money on the DVD and get all the extra stuuf. This anime is the best video-game to movie-screen translation Ive seen. The characters were drawn jaust as they should have been and all the moves are in the movie. The animation is 'cool'. Good stary which mostly follows Donavon, Anita, the sisters, Morrigan, and Dimiri.

5.0 out of 5 stars A splendid peek into the world of the dark!, May 16, 1999
This review is from: Night Warriors Darkstalkers' Revenge OMEGA (DVD)
From the opening credits to the final credits, Night Warriors is a great series that should go other great anime movies that have been brought over, Street Fighter and Fatal Fury. Vol. 2 has less action then Vol. 1, taking more enphasis to story-line. Everything in this series screams of greatness.
