As the title says, I've only played the demo, but since no one else has reviewed this item yet, I thought I'd add my 2 cents until someone more knowledgeable comes along.

The makers of this game are great fans of both the original books and the movies, and have striven to make a game that honors both. In my opinion, they have done a good job. The look, feel, and sound of the game is very reminescient of the movie, but the magic is a lot more prevalent, like in the books.

I don't know who wrote the product info, but don't worry, they didn't work on the game. The game itself is very clean, with no typos or problems with translation that I ever saw.

In the game, you play a character named Stas, a newly discovered Light Other and member of the Night Watch. Throughout the game, you get to team up with other characters, including some from the story. Every character is one of three classes, shapeshifter, mage, or enchanter(sometimes called sorcerer). The shapeshifters are the tanks of the game, dishing out solid physical damage and being able to take the same rather well. The mages are the heavy spell casters. The enchanters have a few spells, but they specialize in turning ordinary objects into magical ones.

The interface is a bit confusing at first. The view is third person from above, like most RTSs but closer up. You can move the camera in a number of ways for many different angles, but unfortunately that's the only time the camera moves. You always have to move it manually, it won't follow the characters naturally. This can be a little annoying at first, but seems to work out.

Combat is turn-based, which I don't mind. I suppose it might dull the action for some people but, with several characters to control and dozens of spells and special abilities to control, the break is welcome. Perhaps it might have been a little better with an option to toggle turn-based, but it's not that bad.

The graphics won't win any awards, but they're not the dregs, either. I wouldn't say they improve gameplay, but they don't detract from it, either.

Although Night Watch is a RPG, it is story-based. The developer said that there are numerous sidequests you can get involved in, but there is a definate story arc that you must follow. So, if that's a dealbreaker for you, there you go.

Having only played the demo, I can't comment on replayability factor. Usually, the fun of playing an RPG over again comes from trying different classes or getting different endings, but since there are only 3 classes, you can make sure your team has one of each and experience all 3 the first run through. Perhaps there are lots of different spells that you'd have to play through again to specialize in different ones--I don't know. I haven't heard anything about any alternate endings, either--someone more knowledgeable will have to speak on that.

Ok! So, enough with my (mostly) non-biased review... for those of you who, like me, are totally into the Watch tetrology, this game is a must have! Wielding enchanted flourescent lamps, casting spells, moving in and out of the Gloom... it totally rocks.

Well I got this game because I like the genre (tactical games) and a more fantasy style game seemed like it would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately the game will not run on my computer as the game has problems with vista/windows 7 systems with more than 4 gb ram. I also think it has a problem with my modern video card. And sadly even though I know only a few small modifications to the 1 mb exe file would make this game run properly. I know this because Silent Storm and Hammer & Sickle both have fan patches that fix the same problem. Sadly, the company has stated it is not going to fix the issue. And I have been unable to find a fan patch for this game. So I give the game 3 stars because i'm sure it's fun, but the lack of support is worth noting.

This game is great for fans of the books. It captures the abilities that are available pretty well. Unfortunately this game is very outdated in its graphics and its game play, at least from an American gamer's perspective.

A very interesting game, whether you're a fan of the books/movies or not. You play a light "Other" who joins the fight against the dark werewolves and vampires in modern-day Moscow.

The game uses a turn-based engine similar to Silent Storm, in full 3D with destructible environments. The member of your party have very varied skills, and that's before you start customizing them. The combat is always interesting with lots of opportunities to develop your own play style. Even the visuals are unique.

If you're looking for something different in RPG's, check it out!

Never played the game. I have a Windows Vista Quad core computer, installed the game and then received an error message that I was unable to play. They wanted me to download some libraries and when I tried the message was unable to download. I am not computer savy and I am not going to bang my head against a wall trying to get this game to work. It says on the box it is for the Windows XP, so if you do not have it you may be in for some trouble. I am going to try to return this game to Amazon. As for the rating, if the game does not work I give it a low rating. That is me. But how can you give it a good rating when the darned thing doesn't work? I have games for Windows XP that work fine. Most of the other games I purchased on Amazon worked fine also.

I was very excited about playing this game, but when after I installed it, my computer crashed every time I tried to run it. Then, upon rebooting, the machine had trouble booting up. It got so bad I had to go into Safe mode and uninstall the game before it began running smoothly again. I suspect it has something to do with the copyright protection software.

The game itself may be awesome, but I have to give it a low rating because I just couldn't get it to run.

Very disappointing.

I purchased this game and sadly, it would not run on my computers (I tried 2 different ones) even though they both fit the preferred specs listed.

I tried also to go to the website listed on the game for help and it is no longer an active website.

So far I've been unable to get help with the problem, short of sending it back.

But the translations in the book that comes with the game are pretty bad. The authors name is Sergei. The game booklet says its "Sergey" and the twilight is translated as "the gloom." All Russian words are spelled in English as pronounced. (The russian word night spelled Nochnoy as opposed to just leaving it the Russian or spelling it Nochnoi which would be closer)

I wish I could talk about the game, but it (my copy) doesn't work. Sorry.
