Great afternoon Beach read.,

This review is from: Night Whispers (Mass Market Paperback)
Night Whispers by Leslie Kelly is a quick romance story. Kelsey and Mitch have known each other for since they were children. Kelsey was always the pest and sister to his best friend. Now she is rented a floor in his house and doing a sexual radio show. Mitch has a hard time seeing Kelsey as the women she has become. Very cute read!

Leslie Kelly had created a witty, sexy, fun novel. The character development of Mitch and Kelsey was superb. They are sexy, daring, and romantic individuals who love to tease and provoke one another. Their relationship is a great example of what many couples are missing in today's society. Looking forward to many more books from this author.

This was my first Harlequin Book that I have ever read. A friend gave it to me and suggested I read it. I sat down on a Friday night and read it. The writing was great as was the story. The story was fun, light, romantic and saucy. Great read for a Friday night. I look forward to reading more of Ms. Kelly's work.

Night Whispers is a tightly written and oh so very very sexy work by Leslie Kelly. You can hear the soft sexy words coming out of your radio and say to yourself "this gal has it right on"! I wish there were a radio show on the air right now like that. Can't wait for her next book.

Smart, Sexy, and Lots of Fun--A Definite Keeper!,

Don't miss this wonderful debut from Harlequin Temptation's brightest new star! NIGHT WHISPERS grabbed me from the first page and never let go. Between the main characters' non-stop chemistry and Ms. Kelly's razor-sharp writing style, this book is a definite keeper! I can't wait for her next book!

NIGHT WHISPERS is a quick read, because you won't want to put it down! Kelsey's profession as a radio host is a welcome change from the ordinary--and her radio segments are oh, so seductive! Leslie Kelly is an author to watch!

SEXY, SWEET ROMANCE!,

I really loved this book -- the whole idea was hilarious: a love affair between a rather uptight professor and a sexy radio host. There are some very funny scenes, especially when they get dressed up and pretend to be a couple on the cover of a romance. And the sex is VERY sexy!

A friend handed me this book last night around 8 PM. I read the first chapter then, and the rest of the book today. It's now 3:30 PM and I'm dying for the next book! The characters were easy to picture and fun to get to know. Lots of sexual tension with just the right touch of vulnerability. A great read!

Weak all around, most of all because of its effeminate hero,
By Raithe (Alexandria, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Night Whispers (Mass Market Paperback)
Leslie Kelly's contemporary romance NIGHT WHISPERS features the proverbial heroine-saving-the-hero's-soul act; here, this act takes the form of restoring the adolescent rogue in our perceived "overwrought, cagey" hero. By the end, the hero Mitch Whymore conforms to his heroine's wild ways and makes all the concessions. The concluding 5-6 pages in this short 212-page paperback extorts mooning introspection and paragraphs of pining words from Mitch for the heroine's delight. The chick-lit factor is high, and the hero's pining seemed like forcibly shoving food down his throat and making him choke on it. The book mostly highlights a guy's strong, muscular physique for the female readership's imaginative pleasure; Kelly throws in a doctorate, professorship and writer for good measure. The prose isn't bad and the book did start out in a fun, sexy manner but the rest of the novel failed to maintain the opening's draw. The plotting and pacing dragged after the opening in spite of the meager 212 pages. The romantic tension inherent in the first half fizzles out as if it was stupid to consider in the first place, while the danger to the heroine in the second half, all of a sudden dissipated. The characters are entirely forgettable. Although NIGHT WHISPERS discusses sensuality and sexuality at length, it phlegmatically disappoints in that department as well.
Mitch's endless introspection and words at the end seemed like a choking, suffocating excursion in girlish pining. In effect, Mitch represents an effeminately, fulsome romantic-hero caricature complete with the trimmings of a chiseled, muscled frame and a rich career.

You can read the other reviews for the book synopsis. I just finished it (finally) and it left me flat - literally can't remember the main characters' names. Even though it was a small book of a little over 200 pages it still seemed to drag on forever. There was no "mystery" to the "mystery". No sizzle to the sex. The romance had a couple of cute sparks ... that didn't go anywhere. The book just seemed tedious. I've read much better works from this author. I give it a "pass".
