This review is from: A Night Without Armor II: The Revenge. Poems (Paperback)
My name is Seau Bia, and i think that this is by far the greatest poetry book of all time and that the author will one day be recognized as the undisputed greatest writer of all time. I would also like to add that this book is good and makes me laugh.

Beau's book: parody or experiment?,

This review is from: A Night Without Armor II: The Revenge. Poems (Paperback)
I don't really believe that "a night without armor II: the revenge" is a parody of Jewel's book. Yes, the cover was parodied, and Beau used all of Jewel's titles as titles for his own poems. But from there, any similarity between what Beau writes and what Jewel wrote ends. He claims to have written this book in four hours, and having known Beau in high school and knowing the way he does things, it's probably true. But the quickness in the writing and the total opposite-of-Jewel's-writing approach he takes should not be taken for a straight parody, as, say, "Weird Al" Yankovic's "Eat It" would be. Beau is original and fresh, and in a world of driveling, whining poets (I did not mention Jewel here out of respect for her fans), I think maybe we need a breath of fresh Oklahoma air.-the artist formerly known as M. J.

Well, it was a funny idea...,

A Night Without Armor II was a clever idea, but it gets boring quickly. The poems aren't interesting or funny enough to keep the book going. Judging by some of Beau's other work, he's an excellent poet. I wish he would put out a book of his more engaging efforts.

Beau is God,

He wrote it in four hours and you can tell. Beau Sia is a pretty fantastic spoken word performer and his onstage work is definitely stronger than this. That aside, this book is still a Beau Sia work, making it a cut funnier and more eloquent than the rest. Ironically it reads a bit stronger than many other more popular spoken word artists inspite of the fact that it is a quickly written satire. A wonderful experiment.

He's not the best poet in the world, however...,

Disqusted? Readers of Jewel's lame musings must be so inspired that they can create new words with q's. After suffering through A Night Without Armor and its inescapable media blitz, a guy like Beau Sia makes the old heart smile. Often more sexy or serious than funny, Sia is able to mock Jewel while keeping a straight face. Check out his last line of a hysterically re-vamped "After the Divorce." This line is better than anything Jewel ever wrote or sang.

This is the funniest book I have ever read. You absolutely don't need to have read Jewel's poetry to appreciate Beau's genius. I love Jewel's music, this book is nothing against her. If anything it's more affectionate satire of Charles Bukowski's poetry. The point is: buy this book, buy it twice. It made me want to be a poet, a very offensive poet, but a poet none the less. To all those who were offended by some of his poems, I understand how you might be, but come on, sometimes we just need to laugh at things that we're not supposed to admit are funny. You'll feel better once you do.

Brilliant satire. Sia has a style all his own.,

You don't have to read Jewel's book to appreciate this one. Every poem by Sia is a guaranteed ovation at any poetry reading. To the teenager who was offended by this book, use your sense of humor (I know you have one if you can pick WebTV as your ISP).

Great Book, So Funny!,

I read some of the poems. It is so funny. I read it at the Strand. If I ever come up with $10, this will be the first book I'll buy. Jewel fans will really appreciate it, but anyone will appreciate the humor. While super funny, it's still poetry. It's the best modern book of poetry I've ever read. Who says poetry can't be funny? Even unintentionally, Jewel's is.

I've heard a lot of Sia's stuff from the Def Poetry Jam series, and this definitely does not measure up. I know he did this really quickly and meant to parody Jewel's publication, but I wish he would come out with a book of some of his better works.
