I started this book hoping it would not be unbeleavable. I read a bad review on it but the good ones out numbered it. Mason is the guy most people had issues with, people saying he was a jerk. Mason turned out to be an alpha male type one who is struggling with his feelings for another man. I loved the book I find there is something about alpha males that is more attractive than any other type of man. Mason struggles with his feelings and the other two are accepting of the type of person he is. I liked the plot of the book too, it actually HAD a plot not just alot of awesome sex scenes(it had a lot of awesome sex scenes though). Im not great at writing these and I hope I didnt hop from one subject to another. Read this book it's good, I thought it was beleavable and the story flowed smoothly.

Wow, what a great read!! This is a full novel and not just a few hot sex scenes(although there are plenty of those too.) The characters are fully developed and share an amazing chemistry and back story. Did I mention the sex between these three is smoking?! The mystery elements are engaging and the action really grabs you. Honestly one of the best menage books I've read in a long time. My only warning is if you don't like M/M sex then this may not be the book for you.

I was pleasantly surprised -- I was expecting a short read for the price but this is a full length book. The story is well written, the characters are fully developed. The sex scenes are beautifully written and intense (and include m/m, m/f, m/f/m). There were some nice twists and turns in the plot... definitely a good read, and well worth reading more than once... (that's the true test of a book for me).

I loved Night is Darkest, it takes a really good book for me to say that. Reading about committed menages, BDSM and m/m are fairly new to me and so unless it's written well I still get that kinda ick feeling. I didn't get that "ick" feeling at all with NID and the scene where Lacey took them both at once for the first time was moving, as was the scene where Ty was able to love Mason for the 1st time.

This is a very touching book, and yes it is a book, it has sex, angst, mystery and love.

I stayed up until 3:30 am just to read it, I couldn't put it down.

I don't understand the bad reviews it has gotten, some of the stuff stated was so untrue I have to think it is someone who didn't read the book.

I read menage/ erotica fairly regularly. I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this one. I put too much weight in to the one bad review...and it turned out I really enjoyed the book. I didn't feel anything was in bad taste, and it was all rather plausable. It was long enough to give a good amount of story with the steamy sex scenes. There was romance, a little Dom/sub. tension, and great menage with f/m/m, or f/m, or m/m. The only reason this is a 4, not a 5 star review is because I have read so many, I tend to compare stories. This hasn't quite reached some of my favorites such as Love Slave for Two...but it was well done, and very entertaining.

This is a roller coaster ride of a story from start to finish. Though Rob's murder is heart-wrenching for all three of the main characters, their need to comfort each other allows them to finally be open about their mutual desire. The murder plot and the threat to Lacey helps force all three of them together so they have to face their feelings. The depth of feeling between Lacey, Mason, and Tyler is evident in all of their encounters. All of the sex is extremely hot and sensual, but also full of tenderness that shows just how much they love each other.

Each of these characters is fantastically written. The readers can feel the pain of loss they go through at the opening of the story and then the joy of discovering each other as it moves forward. Lacey is a very strong woman, and she needs to be in order to handle her two strong men. Both Mason and Tyler are very tough males who are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect those they love, including each other. While all three of them are great characters on their own, they are even better when together because they all compliment each other.

Jayne Rylon has written a wonderful story with a number of twists that only make the ending that much more satisfying. Everything about it will draw readers in and keep them turning the pages until the very end. - Karin

3.5-4 stars

This was a pretty good story. I liked Lacey, Tyler and Mason and their story was interesting with a lot of sex.

Lacey is a nurse and a nice woman. She was living with her brother who was a police officer, as they were very close since their parents died years before. When Lacey finds out about her brother's death she doesn't take it well. She's been in love with his 2 BFFs, Mason and Tyler, since they were all kids but they've never responded to any of her attempts to be with them.

Mason and Tyler grew up together and have always been close. They also have had a tendency to share women ever since they first started noticing women. They've been attracted to Lacey since she was way too young for that type of attention but stayed away from her when she got older. Partially this was because her brother warned them off and partially because Mason had to convince himself it was alright. Mason and Tyler developed a m/m relationship over the years but have kept it strictly under wraps because Mason's afraid of the backlash their relationship might unleash.

The story begins with Lacey finding out about her brother dying and going through the funeral. She's kind of out of it and feeling very alone even with Mason and tyler there for her. After the funeral she needs some comfort and tried to get the men to be with her. They don't want to because they're sure she'll regret it later and then they'd lose her friendship as well. Lacey on the other hand, wants them both badly and is so steeped in loss that she can't stand for Tyler and Mason to leave her. Things get a bit messed up because Mason is convinced that Lacey can't deal with him and Tyler being in a m/m thing together and also they tend to like BDSM play and they think it's too rough for Lacey. He doesn't believe they can make a true threesome relationship work and so is determined not even to try. This causes some drama for the three and Lacey is put through more emotional pain by all the crap before things get worked out. Eventually, Tyler and Lacey get Mason onboard but there's some definite drama before the three are solidly together.

While Lacey, Tyler and Mason are trying to work out their relationship some unusual things happen that make them think that something about Lacey's brother's death wasn't as they thought it should be. There seems to be a possibility of something more going on and they need to find out what it is. Especially when whoever is causing the issues seems to be out to hurt Lacey. The men investigate and they have sex. A bit more investigating and more sex, and more sex, and more sex... To be honest, I liked the sex scenes, they were hot, but there were times when the story got so much into the sex that I forgot what the heck was happening in the action plot by the time we got back to it. But, during the many sex scenes we also get to see some growth in the threesome's relationship and enjoy them getting closer and working out some of their personal issues. I actually thought that the action plot was very good but just was overshadowed at times by the romance (sex) plot. There's some drama and unexpected danger to be dealt with before the end but the threesome manage to get through things alright and come together to start on their HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. Lacey, Mason and Tyler were all likable characters. I got a bit frustrated with Mason's issues but I guess they were needed for the story and I'm glad they weren't drug out through the whole story. I thought the action plot was well done but overshadowed by the romance plot at some points. Overall, I thought the story was pretty good and I'll probably read more in the series down the road. I'd recommend this story. :D

* note - I listened to the audio version of this and the narrator did a very good job.

Lacey Daughtry had been extremely close to her brother Rob since the unexpected death of their parents when she was just a teen. He and his two best friends had always been there for her, but she knew even at a young age that her feelings for Mason Clark and Tyler Lambert were different. When she was young, she crushed on them, and that grew into love as she got older. It broke her heart that they rejected her at every turn, but that didn't diminish her feelings for them.

When Rob is killed in the line of duty, Lacey's world comes crashing down around her. She is devastated by the loss, but Mason and Tyler refuse to let her push them away. In their constant company, she realizes that they aren't as immune to her as she had previously believed. In a weakened moment they gave into to the feelings that they had always had for Lacey, and it changed the course of their lives forever.

This was a really good read! It is so well written that you can feel Lacey's pain when her brother is killed. Whether you have personally experienced this type of loss or not, you will be engaged in this book from the very beginning. There are some very poignant moments that will remain with you long after you finish. It is well balanced between story and some very scorching erotic passages - that always is a winning combination. Mason and Tyler have such incredible chemistry with Lacey that it is combustible! This is one that you won't want to miss!!

My Review:
This is a hot, full-length erotic read. It is also a pretty decent suspense novel. For me, though, the appeal of the novel came from the relationship between these three. Mason and Tyler have been best friends for ages. They have also been lovers, but no one realizes that besides them. They were brought together through their mutual love for Lacey, but as the younger sister as one of their other friends, it was a hands-off policy for her. But when her older brother is murdered, Lacey needs the comfort from his and her friends and these guys step up. The issue is...they think that Lacey is an innocent and want to keep it that way. They don't want to expose her to their wild ways, so the guys break off their romance so that Tyler can romance Lacey. They don't realize that her fantasies and emotions fully involve BOTH of them.

In the midst of all that complication is the search for Rob's murderer and a prisoner up for parole who is making Lacey's life miserable. That's where the suspense comes in....and it was entertaining, if not quite as good on the suspense as I hoped. That was probably what knocked the rating down the most on this book. The suspense just didn't quite live up to what I'd hoped.

But overall, this was a HIGHLY entertaining and erotic read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am so glad that I already have books #2 and #3 on my Kindle waiting for me to find time to read them. I promise that will happen SOON!!!

Lacey Daughtry has been in love with her brother's two best friends since she was a teenager, but no matter what she tried, they wouldn't come near her. Now, Lacey is all grown up, a popular nurse at the local hospital. When her brother, a police officer, is murdered Lacey's world crumbles and the only people that can put her back together are Tyler and Mason, the two men she had finally resigned herself to never having.

Mason and Tyler are partners on the police force, and in the bedroom, but there had always been something missing. They are both in love with Lacey, but their best friend, her brother, warned them away from her years ago. Since then, they have sated their needs temporarily with other women but it was never enough. There is a mystery surrounding her brother's death. He may have been targeted and it's looking like Lacey has become a target as well. Mason and Tyler are ready to protect her with their lives, but will she let them?

Night is Darkest is an exciting thriller with enough sexual tension to set you on fire. Jayne Rylon has written an absorbing, sexy, suspenseful story that leaves you aching for more. The cops are sinfully delicious and the heroine is a strong fiery woman that knows how to set her men ablaze. Night is Darkest not only features many erotic scenes to drive you wild, but it also has an excellent mystery to keep you guessing until the very end.
