5.0 out of 5 stars The futuristic that changed my mind
I have to say, I was never a fan of these stories. The SciFi always seemed to get in the way of the characters, and strange words and new creatures always seemed like gimmicks that never quite gelled. I picked up this book because I got Dara Joy's books and this always popped up as a recommendation and boy! Was I glad I did. Talon and Kari are a wonderful couple,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Swashbucking Futurist Romance
Though I liked the TV show much better, this futuristic romance was similar to watching an episode of Farscape. Closer to 3.5 stars it was slow reading at the beginning. It took me awhile to warm up to the main characters.

Talon is a unique breed and his future is like no other. A smuggler, he fights both with his head and swords. He is trying to remain...

5.0 out of 5 stars The futuristic that changed my mind, June 24, 1999
This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I have to say, I was never a fan of these stories. The SciFi always seemed to get in the way of the characters, and strange words and new creatures always seemed like gimmicks that never quite gelled. I picked up this book because I got Dara Joy's books and this always popped up as a recommendation and boy! Was I glad I did. Talon and Kari are a wonderful couple, their struggles as they deal with being on opposite sides of the law and their dealings with their feelings for each other were wonderful to read about. I hope Ms. Kyle writes another futuristic romance soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Read, December 11, 1998

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I always have to re-adjust my standards when I move from reading a bunch of sci-fi books to a futuristic romance. This one is pretty good. Once you get past the unbelievable premise that a space faring race can't come up with anything better then swords and knives to fight with just because they don't have fuel for they phasers (like what about guns) and the hero's totally non-believable Archiles Heal - this book reads well. The author did a good job at dealing with technology, and the details about computers were believable - most futuristic romance writers seems to forget the future part. The characters were well drawn and their relationship believable. The Heroine was the strongest I'd seen in a long time, and I liked that. The only thing that annoyed me was that the Heroine physically assaulted the hero multiple times - something that would have been unacceptable if the roles were reversed. Also the Hero kept making comments about looking for the the soft female underneath, as if that was needed for her to be a desireable woman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worthy of its awards!!!, March 31, 1999
This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
If you like futuristic romances, this one is a must have!! It's sweet, sexy, and original (which I sadly can't say about many books on the market). One thing I can say about this book, if this is the author's first book, she's going to be hot, Hot, HOT as she gets more out!!! :-)

Determined to earn her father's approval, Kari Solis set out to capture the commander of the rebel forces wreaking havoc on their world. But she didn't count on her plans being upset by a rogue smuggler-a handsome loner concealing a shadowy past and an even darker secret. After he managed to turn the tables and take her hostage, Talon should have rid himself of Kari's dangerous company at the first opportunity. Instead, he found himself torn between a raging hunger to possess her and a driving need to escape a passion that jeoparized everything he'd stived for. Confronted by a dark menace, threatening all they held dear, the two reluctantly joined forces, igniting a firestorm of cosmic passion that took them to a final battle-pitting the power of betrayal against the strength of their love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book if you like potential series., December 24, 1999
This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
His book was wonderful and a delight to read. For one Amazon book recommender was right on with my tastes. I wasn't sure about this book in the begining because it didn't explain anything about why Kari was so driven to please her father at any cost. Once I figured things out it was a very enjoyable read. The books one major flaw was that it didn't come to an ending. It just kind of leaves you hanging about what happens to all but the main two characters and even that is kind of hanging. You know they get married (come one I didn't really spoil anything did I?), but beyond that what happens to them? It just smells a little like a sequal and me spending more money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't put it down., December 15, 1997

This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm not a huge fan of futuristics, but this novel rocked my world. There's no way this book could have been any better. The hero and heroine were great--they bantered nonstop and connected with me on a completely emotional level. I stayed up all night to finish Nighthawk, and I was sobbing with joy (and maybe a little exhaustion) by the end. The plot is half Star Wars (tangled family lines and surprise forebears popping up when least expected amid spectacular battles in space and on exotic-sounding planets), and half Chippendales calendar, with new and appealing heros of future Kristen Kyle novels dropping in frequently. Can't wait for the sequel about Rand! Do yourself a favor and read this book now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dazzling!, April 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The breathless action, complex characters and intriguing plot line sucked me in from the start and didn't let me go until the end. Rogue smuggler Talon is to die for. Kari Solis is a strong, independent heroine with something to prove. When these two intriguing characters get together, the sparks fly--and the romance heats up. A wonderful read I highly recommend. I can't wait for Kristen Kyle's next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars If U enjoyed Han & PrincessLeia in Star Wars,U'll love this!, December 1, 1998
This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Great plot, great characters, great Science Fiction action. The hero & heroine are strong-willed but good-hearted. I went to work with this book. I missed TV shows just to finish the book! It is well-written with less mushy scenes but a lot of heart pounding plots. I can't wait for a sequel on Jhase or Rand.

This review is from: Nighthawk (Futuristic Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book has it all. Two strong, independent protagonists - complex, intriguing secondary characters - and non-stop action. It's sexy, fast-paced, imaginative, and cool. I can't wait to transport through the solar system with Ms. Kyle's next book!
