5.0 out of 5 stars Agnes Turnbull, The Nightingale, January 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Nightingale (Paperback)
This is one of several wonderful books written by Agnes Turnbull. Unlike Mystery/Romance books of today, which leave nothing to imagination, her stories are rich and full yet suitable for all audiences to read. The Nightingale is a story about a young woman, a teacher, who's family have all passed on. Knowing that her teaching salary would not be sufficient to handle her expenses, she faces the hard reality of decision making and chooses to open her home to borders rather than to rush into a marriage which is not based on true love. It is in this situation that the richness of the town and it's characters are brought to light along with the mysteries and romance of "the nightingale".
